Here Comes the Pain

It’s getting close to the time I need to leave for my parents for another 24 hour parent sitting shift. Here comes the existential dread. Here comes the anxiety overload. Here comes the pain.

Charlie Watts

I just read a statement from The Rolling Stones confirming Charlie Watts passed away.

While I have never been a Stones fan, credit must always be given where due. Rest In Peace, sir.

The best Charlie Watts story is a pretty well known one. The stones were in a hotel late at night and Charlie had turned in when Mick Jagger, for whatever reason, started calling him and yelling at him saying something along the lines of where is my drummer.

Charlie got up, dressed in a suit, went to wherever Jagger was calling from and punched him square in the face saying, I’m not your drummer. You’re my singer. Every piece of that story is gold but for me it’s him putting on a suit that makes it priceless.

Planning Fail

My brother and his family played a round of soccer golf last week. It looked fun. We were going to try to play today. Bellana is here and we were going to borrow Harry for a while and it was going to be fun. Unfortunately the place is booked with a corporate event today and we can’t go.

Fail.

So we’re going to have a cookout instead. So what if it’s not what we planned originally. All four of us are going to be together. That’s what matters.

Good News

We got some news today on the parental health care front. I again refuse to get my hopes up, but if what was discussed today happens, then the situation will likely be close to resolved.

It’s still a couple of weeks away and there are a thousand other things that need to happen first, and I am not going to give any details until after everything is complete, but I need this to end and if what came up today happens, we might be dramatically closer to the end.

Post-Storm

We drove up the coast to see if there was any residual wave activity left over from the storm yesterday. There was a little. We saw a few big waves. Much bigger than we usually see in our little sliver of ocean.
