Security

It’s a holiday in Massachusetts today so there is no traffic anywhere. I am so ridiculously early that I stopped at rest area on 128 to get a bite for breakfast.

I’m one exit North of the Boston Marathon route. There is a convoy of state police cars here. I can see 11 from this spot, but I think there are more.

Do not eff with my city today. These guys will break you into tiny pieces if you mess with us.

Much Better, Bruins

The Bruins beat the Red Wings in game two of their first round series today. That made me happy. The Red Sox are losing right now, but if that is the price we have to pay for a Bruins post season win, then so be it.

Big Day for Boston Tomorrow

Tomorrow is a big day for the city of Boston and the surrounding communities. Tomorrow is the Boston Marathon. My favorite place to be on Marathon Monday is generally here:

At least early. You go to the Sox game, then head over to Kenmore Square and watch the leaders run through. It’s a fun day even for a non-drinker like me.

After last year, it’s an even bigger deal. No body better be messing with my city.

Papi

Today is a special day for hockey fans. There are four playoff games, all of which have different start times, all of which are nationally broadcast.

I turned on the tube to watch the first game, New York and Philly, and the cable was already on NESN. As soon as the TV picture came in I see Big Papi, David Ortiz, drill a line drive into the right field seats! AWESOME!

It was after he crossed home plate that I realized it was a reply of yesterday’s game. I am such a tool.

So I switch it over to hockey just in time to see Philly score. It’s 2-1 Rangers. I have some pretty decent timing today, even if in one case I was a day late.

A Thought on San Diego

There is only one downside that I can see about moving from Boston to San Diego. (we’re not, I’m just fantasizing)

San Diego does not have an NHL team.

There’s the LA Kings and the Anaheim Ducks. I expect I would follow the Kings for my local NHL fix, although Ducks games would be slightly closer to home.

I’d still be a Bruins fan, of course. I mean… duh!

Bruins/Wings Game Two

We’re a little more than three hours away from the start of game two. The Bruins must win this game. They must win this game. No more of this 1-0 shutout loss crap. They must score early. They must score often. They must embed the Detroit players into the boards in much the same way that that damn tick embedded itself in me. They must punish the Wings for each inch of ice they try to take. They must punish the Wings for each inch of ice they try to keep us from taking.

I started reading Bobby Orr’s autobiography this morning. If that isn’t enough to inspire the Bruins in game two then nothing is.

Go Bruins!
Punish the Wings!
Make them fear you!
Go Bruins!

Parasite

During our first nice-weather family gathering in our new house (it was my step daughter’s birthday) my niece caught herself a tick. Her parents found it when they got home. Everyone else at the party checked for more, and no more were found.

Until today. I knew there was a chance, seeing as the kids and I all went outside to do some spring cleaning. This morning I found one of the little bastards digging into my gut. Yippee. Did it fall apart as I was pulling it off of me? Oh fer sure it did. Do I get to go make an appointment to get checked for lyme disease now? Ah hells yes I do!

Effin’ parasite.

27 Reasons San Diego Just Might Be Heaven On Earth

My beautiful Jen just sent me this link. There is nothing on this Earth that I would like more than to pack up the wife and the step kids and make our way over to San Diego right now.

Like really, right now. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Right now.
