Distract Me

I want to be able to set up my guitar rig to run two amplifiers at once.  I need an A/B/Y switch with a phase inverter and a ground loop lift.  This looks perfect.

I want to be able to record one of the band’s upcoming shows.  I had a method in place to record rehearsals on two tracks for stereo.  One mic on the bass amp, one on the guitar amp, two on the drums.  We already had three vocal mics, but at practice I was just taking the mono out of the PA head to cover all three voices.  I don’t want to record a gig that way.  I want to record each mic onto it’s own track so that I can mix it later.  That means I need to find a way to get seven separate audio tracks into GarageBand (or maybe Logic?) simultaneously.  That means I need a new USB interface that can handle more than two inputs.  This looks perfect.

I want to learn a new programming language.  My wife and I are thinking that Ruby would be a lot of fun to learn.  I am going to set up Ruby school a couple of nights a week and we are going to learn it together.  Before we start though, we need a text book to work through.  O’Reilly usually publishes great programming books.  This might be perfect.

There are good, healthy reasons for me to want to do all of these things, as well as many more.  I want to better myself.  I want to learn new things.  All good reasons.

There’s one other reason though…

If I am working on projects like this, I won’t be thinking about how our fascist president has attacked two countries during his three months in office, and now he’s threatening to attack a third, and moving troops to face off with a fourth.

If I’m mixing a recording of the band, I won’t be thinking about how the world is about to end.

Trump is a Fascist Idiot – 3/24/17 Edition

Donny Cheeto Fascist and Paul Vichy France Ryan got their political asses kicked today and I am loving every second of it.  It was beautiful.  The look on Vichy Paul’s face  as he told the nation that the great billionaire’s tax break bill that most people are calling the trumpcare healthcare bill (is “care” the right word considering 24 million or so people would lose their coverage?) didn’t have enough votes to pass so they pulled it from the House session!

Glorious!

Now I understand that the fascists and their collaborators have control of the white house, the house, and the senate and that eventually they will destroy the entire United States population.  That doesn’t matter today.  Right now… today… The fascists have failed.  They were the losers we know and hate, through and through.

Take that, you fascist cheeto piece of shit.

Trump is a Fascist Idiot – 3/19/17 Edition

Did that fascist shit head really say publicly that Germany owes us money for NATO?  Is he really that stupid?  Does he have no idea how NATO works?  He grew up during the cold war, he should have learned how NATO works by osmosis.  He should have got it just by breathing.

The man is insufferably clueless.  His existence makes me want to vomit.  Germany owes the US money… what a moron.  Screw you, you half witted fascist cheet-o.

Trump is a Fascist Idiot – 3/18/17 Edition

So rather than back down from the wiretapping bullshit unfounded false accusations this moron made against Obama a couple of weeks ago, he actually pulled other countries into the discussion.

Want to know what this is?  This is one of those movies were the 10 year old kid tells a lie to get out of something silly and then compounds the little lie with a bigger lie and a bigger lie until he ends up getting grounded for a decade because one of this relatives died or something and we all feel better because the kid learned a valuable lesson.  That’s exactly what this story is.  It’s the fascist spray tanned cheeto prick who cried wolf.

Except there is no valuable lesson to be learned in this case because half the friggin country believes this fascist piece of shit is telling god’s truth.  Every time I think we have the orange idiot over a barrel I have to stop and realize that HALF THE COUNTRY SUPPORTS HIM.  We are not a democracy with a fascist president, we are a country that is half fascist with a fascist president.

The mid term election is our only hope of getting out of this shit hole we have dug ourselves into.  It’s like Obi-Wan Kenobie, it’s our only hope.  But how can you still have hope when half the country thinks all of this nightmarish fascism is just us being great again?
