Get ready for lots of pictures of gas stations today. We’re going on a day trip up to the mountains to look at colors on the trees. It’s probably past peak where we’re heading but that’s okay. It’s the journey, not the destination.

I didn’t think we were going to try to do any leaf peeping this year, but after talking to Jen a few minutes ago I think we are going to head North and try to do some leaf peeping tomorrow.
I just put the digital camera’s battery on the charger. One of the film cameras is loaded with a roll of black and white film. That won’t do. I need to put some color film into the other camera and then maybe take them both. Two films and a digital make three cameras. Yeah, that works for me.
Chances are we won’t stop anywhere and all of our peeping will be from inside the moving car, but that doesn’t matter. Turning a day trip like this into a photo-trip is nice and all but the real point of it is to just spend some time with the love of my life. That’s the real treat.
What day is it? Who knows. It’s Thursday, right?
Is it too early to start thinking about plans for the weekend? It is the height of leaf peeping season here in New England. We thought about going up to the mountains for a look last weekend but we decided against it. If we go this weekend the traffic will be insane. I checked the weather for our area and Saturday looks great while Sunday looks rainy and crappy.
I don’t know. We’re trying to plan a visit to the kids but that won’t be for another couple of weeks. We have a couple of work days to get through before we figure anything out and maybe we will just hang out at home. I don’t know. After a bunch of day trips on our week off/staycation last month I just have the road trippin’ bug.
We will figure it all out soon enough. Stay tuned.
Today’s drive went west…ish. We crossed into New Hampshire then went west across to Keene, which is almost Vermont, then north a little then East. Later we just drove around our little local region because we were listening to an audiobook in the car and didn’t want to stop. Later still, after dinner we went out and drove around again because the book is fascinating.
I only took a couple of photos. I don’t remember the name of the town. I could look it up but I’m really lazy.
Oh yeah, it was New London, NH.
We decided we were not going to take a random road trip today.
Then an hour later we changed our mind and decided to take another random road trip.
The last two day trips have taken us North, one to New Hampshire and the other to Maine. Today we went South to Rhode Island. We went down to Westerly and then came back up the coast through Narraganset and Newport. We stopped for pictures at a couple of spots in Westerly. That town is a New England flavored paradise. I could totally live there.
So where should we go tomorrow?
I don’t know where we are going today. Probably not North.
I do know that we are packing up for another short road trip to somewhere… anywhere… for the third staycation day in a row.

Yesterday we took an unplanned road trip up to Lake Winnipesaukee (sp?) and into the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Today we took an unplanned road trip along the Maine Atlantic coast.
Tomorrow? Who knows! If we go on another unplanned road trip, I’ll let you know
Chances are we’ll just stay home and watch true crime documentaries on TV. Hell, the main reason we took both road trips was to listen to an audio book about Ted Bundy. We’re kinda nuts like that.
