Here in One Piece

Another day in the office for me. Traffic was okay. It took about an hour to get here. I shouldn’t complain. things tied up pretty bad on route 3, and then again for a little while on route 128. Neither jam was as bad as pre-Covid, but still… It’s just frustrating to go through it after working from home for two years and not worrying about traffic at all.

I took a rapid Covid test before I left. I had thoughts of doing that every time I come into the office and then last week when I came in for the first time I completely forgot to do it. We’re supposed to do a little self assessment before we leave the house. Any symptoms? Nope, come on in. My thought was to add a home test to that process. Not sure if I will keep doing that, but I’m negative today so life is good.

Jen told me that she saw a news report of a shooting in my general neighborhood. That’s a happy story to wake up to. I don’t know the details. I’ll have to see if I can learn anything. Just a little icing on the Thursday cake, right?

Happy work day, everyone.

Testing as a Family

Earlier today the four of us had the first ever (please don’t make it the first annual) Family Covid-19 Rapid Test.

Jen lined up four test kits on a table and we all got together and festively* swabbed our noses (and possibly our brains, ouch) together. Fifteen minutes later we all checked the results and wouldn’t ya know it, we were all negative!

Let the New Year commence!

I didn’t get a picture of any of it so you’ll have to settle for this picture of Patches sitting on my desk.

Enjoy!

*I say festively, but the truth is Jen had to drag the kids out of bed to do this, so it might not have been all that festive for them. College kids, ya know?

12 Hours

Hang on to your butts, folks. The least optimistic human in the world is about to get all optimistic on your ass.

Approximately 12 hours from now my Covid-19 mini quarantine is going to be over.

Approximately 12 hours from now I am going to come storming into the house, run right to my wife’s office, scoop her up into my arms and give her a richter 10 sized smooch.

Approximately 12 hours from now I am going to still be working in my step son’s room because I won’t have time to rearrange everything before work starts, but at some point after work ends I’ll move everything back and life will go back to normal.

Can I get a hells yes?

I’m not even considering the possibility of things going wrong in the morning because I don’t have Covid-19 and there is no way I am failing and testing positive. Nope. No way in hell.

This is me being overly cautions, and also putting that kick ass Pfizer vaccine to work for me. Covid free, babie. You’ll see.

Not My Favorite

Today has not been my favorite day. Not by a long way. Not by a really long way.

(Yeah, that’s the inside of an urgent care)

(They said they’d call me if the test is positive, thank you, but if it’s negative they won’t call me. I did a double take on that. If you don’t call, how will I know?)
