Markey or Kennedy

We have a primary here in Massachusetts tomorrow and there is a juicy fight for the US Senate going on. With only one day left to make a decision, I am still very much undecided.

Kennedy currently has a seat in the US House and he is clearly a rising star. Even without the family name he is making waves in all the right ways. I would be very happy to see him in the US Senate.

Markey has been serving the state in Washington for ages. He’s always seemed to quietly be right where we the people needed him to be, doing exactly what we needed him to do. Under Trump he has always stood up to the fascists in the White House and he has been a strong force for right. Oh yeah, and he co-wrote the Green New Deal. I would be very happy to have Ed Markey in the US Senate for another six years.

Up until the last few days I was pretty strongly leaning toward Kennedy. Today, I think I’m leaning toward Markey.

We have vote by mail ballots but we did not mail them. What with the Trump administration dismantling the US Postal system in yet another obvious attempt to rig elections. Instead, I will drop our ballots off at City Hall, either tonight or tomorrow.

Now I just have to make a decision.

I am So Tired

Massachusetts had its 9,000th Covid-19 death today.

The United States of America had its 180,000th death today.

I am so tired of this. I am tired of having a president who ignores 180,000 deaths and over 5,000,000 sick people. I am tired of having a president who incites racial violence on TV every day and I’m tired of seeing my fellow citizens follow his lead and murder people in the streets. Cops, teenage kids, murderers. I’m tired of having a society that is so broken that some of us actually applaud a 17 year old with an assault rifle blowing people away because their skin is the wrong color. I’m tired of inequality based on skin color being okay with people.

Those people have been consumed by hate. I fear that I will be consumed by hatred of them. I’m just tired of it all. I’m tired of corruption and to think that an election in November is going to be anything other than rigged to keep the corruption gravy train rolling is just naive. I want to be hopeful, but I just don’t see it happening.

Bannon is a Crook. Duh

Steve Bannon was arrested today for ripping off donors to a build the wall charity.

Now I know that this won’t amount to anything, and even if it did the nazi in washington would probably pardon him because consequences aren’t a thing for republicans.

However, knowing that this piece of shit is going to spend at least a day in jail has warmed my heart in a way that nothing political, including all of the speeches from the Democratic convention could not.

Seeing trumpers go to jail… it’s just lovely.

Nasty

The cheeto in chief wasted no time in insulting Joe Biden’s newly announced running mate, Kamala Harris. He called her phony, which is hysterical given his make up and hair, and he called her nasty.

Nasty.

The nazi in the white house often refers to intelligent women as nasty. I can’t recall him ever calling a man nasty. How long until women across the nation start taking the word nasty as a compliment?

I hope the English language evolves such that nasty becomes the highest compliment you can give a woman. As it stands now, any time a fascist with a rodent on top of his head calls a women nasty, I automatically support her.

Axios

Watch this.

The President of the United States is completely delusional. He’s trying to spin death as a positive. It’s unfathomable.

I haven’t watched the full interview yet but I’m going to post it so I can find it here later.

I’d say enjoy, but I expect it’s more likely to infuriate.

Planning for the Future? What?

I just had a chat with my wife. There is something I might want to do in the future if everything works out right.

What needs to work out right?

  • A COVID-19 vaccine is thoroughly and successfully tested
  • A COVID-19 vaccine is approved and made available to US citizens
  • A COVID-19 vaccine that is available to US citizens is actually attainable by US citizens (those are not the same thing)
  • We all take a COVID-19 vaccine
  • The COVID-19 vaccine doesn’t have side effects that cronenberg the crap out of us and turn us into flipper babies
  • Biden wins the election.

I asked her, if all those things happen, does she want to drive down to DC and attend the Inauguration? Can we swing bringing the kids?

Some Notes on a Saturday

How long does a modern TV last? This morning Jen started thinking about a new TV. We don’t need a new TV, I said. When did we buy our current living room TV, she asked. Off to the blog I go!

The blog holds all the answers. The new TV was purchased on September 28, 2014. Just shy of six years ago. The blog is wise. The blog knows.

So then we asked how long do TVs tend to last these days? Off to Google Jen goes! 5-7 years. Well, that settles it then. Conspicuous Consumerism dictates that we need a new TV. We’re going to hold off until Christmas… I think. We agreed to that, but Jen is hovering around BestBuy.com which means maybe she won’t be able to wait.

Second Saturday note: UPS again… oh boy. Just when I came to grips with the fact that I was going to have to file a claim with GuitarCenter.com over the amplifier that will never be shipped, UPS updated the tracking number to say that once again (take three) it is on a truck and out for delivery. The estimated delivery date/time is today by 9:00PM. I’m taking bets on what time this afternoon they change that date to Monday. Anyone?

The third Saturday note is the only actually important one. There is a story suggesting that Russia paid bounties to the Taliban for killing American soldiers. It is also being said that trump knew about it and did nothing.

I don’t know if any of it’s true. I’ve only seen it on Twitter. I haven’t read any of the source articles. I don’t know if it is true or not. I just know this:
