Photo a Day Thing

I took three pics around the house this morning because I couldn’t decide which one should be the official pic for today.

And the winner is that cat, because it’s always the cat.

Nope

I tried to goad myself into playing the guitar at lunch today. I even took a picture for the photo a day thing.

Nope. I had a bad reaction to a piece of chicken instead. I guess it was just too big of a bite. It took me three hours to get through 4.4 oz of chicken, but one hour of that was just dealing with stomach pain and nausea and another hour was spent in a meeting at work. You know how it is.

Speaking of problems eating that stem from my gastric bypass surgery, the organization that determines the rules for qualifying for weight loss surgery has just rewritten those rules. They lowered the BMI requirement from 35 to 30. According to that I still qualify. My BMI is 34.4 even after losing 169 pounds. Can they bypass more of my stomach? WOOHOO!

Photo a Day Catch Up

I am not necessarily planning on putting all of the photo a day stuff onto the blog, that’s what Flickr is for, but I’m putting up yesterday and today because I can… I guess.

I am 13.69% finished with this year’s photo a day. Fascinating, yes?

Still planning to go with black and white once the film comes back into play. A couple of weeks, I think. Be prepared. I’m going to use Dad’s camera with his zoom lens to start with. I took a few shots with that lens before, but they were all on rolls that either jammed and got exposed when I had to open the back of the camera to fix the jam, or they were on the roll that broke. I’m also planning on getting (or trying to get) an adapter so that I can use Dad’s 50mm prime lens on my ebay Nikon. We’ll see.

New Flower Coming In

Yesterday during lunch I did some pruning on the Japanese Peace Lily in the bedroom. There were a lot of dead and dying leaves and branches, including the only flower. I yanked out a bunch of them and scissor’d off a bunch more. It was pretty bad. I was wondering if maybe the plant’s days were numbered.

Then last night before bed I noticed this:

A new flower is coming in! The plant lives!

51 year old me thinks that 20 year old me would think him insufferably lame for getting stoked over a flower. Them’s the breaks, 20 year old me.
