Nerdus Extremus

I just made a list of all 20 March and April songs and color coded it based on the state of completion (or incompletion) in which each recording currently resides.

There are two that are ready to mix. Hopefully I’ll get one in tonight.

Rock & Roll, eh?

A New Flavor of Nerd

This is a picture of my television. See the image? It’s the MLB iOS app. I’m listening to the end of the Toronto vs Tampa Bay game (let’s go Blue Jays!).

The app is running on my iPad and while the audio is streaming to the TV via Airplay, it is also mirroring the image from the iPad screen. I’ve never tried that before, but it’s working pretty well. Of course the image is pretty static on this particular app, so I can’t say how much latency is affecting things.

Still… Cool, right?

Happy iOS7 Release Day

Today’s the day. iOS7 will be made available at some point today. It’s not out yet, but it will be.

Are you looking forward to upgrading your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with a user interface that looks like it was designed by a five year old with a box of crayons?

I know, I know… I’m going to upgrade both of my iOS devices. Maybe not tonight, but definitely this week. The new UI doesn’t excite me at all. In fact, it makes me a little sad. It makes me hesitate to upgrade. The screen shots I’ve seen look… well… stupid. I can’t stop imagining a five year old with the smallest box of crayolas scribbling away on the screen. Despite that, I am guessing that within a day or so I won’t even notice the changes anymore, and I’ll forget what iOS6 looked like. I mean, it’s only a UI after all.

Happy iOS7 release day. Come on and party down with the Apple nerds.

Ghosts!

I went outside again this evening to watch the bird feeder. Not a single bird showed up. The jerks.

It was getting dark out there when I saw something crazy. A ghost in our back yard! Check out the proof!

It’s a ghostly apparition if I ever saw one. Who ya gonna call?

I turned the camera toward the woods and I got another view.

I came back to the bird feeder and there it was again! Ghostbusters and all that! WOOHOO

(nerdy things like this happen when you buy a nerd like me a new toy for his camera. 30 second exposures for everyone!)

iOS Question, Answered

A little lunch time Googling told me that I was right in my assumption that you cannot change the default browser on an iOS device.  It is possible if you jail break your device, but I have no interest in doing that.

I guess I will just have to copy links out of emails and other apps.  Not too big a deal, but I do want to use Chrome instead of Safari for now.  I really don’t know why.

I was a die hard Firefox user until I got my iMac.  For some reason when I set up the new computer I installed Chrome right away.  I don’t think I installed Firefox at all.  I actually use both at work as I have my own Google account and we use Gmail for work and I prefer to keep them separate.  I want both accounts open so I use two browsers.  Chrome for work, Firefox for personal.

Since getting the iMac I had rarely used my MacBook Pro.  During the February music goofiness I used it quite a bit and without really thinking about it I was using Chrome for all of my browsing.  Given that I kept all of the song arrangements and lyrics on a Google Document, and that every single idea I had got uploaded to the ‘net somewhere, I did a lot of browsing during the music making.

I guess Chrome just quietly won me over.  I don’t think the browsing experience is any better or worse in iOS, at least as far as rendering the pages is concerned.  I do prefer the tabbed functions in Chrome to the multi-page functions in Safari.  Maybe I’m just a nerd.

Yeah, I’m probably just a nerd.
