Is Infinity* War better than Endgame? I think that’s a question that will stump movie fans for generations to come. I feel the battle at the end of Endgame is better than anything in Infinity War, but the movie as a whole? I think I have to give the nod to Infinity War. Not since Empire Strikes Back has a movie with a bummer ending landed so powerfully. As of this moment in time I think it’s the best Marvel movie. Ask me again after I watch Endgame though.

*I misspell “infinity” almost every time I type it. I throw in an extra “i” for some reason. Inifinity.

Time for the Big Guns

I watched a movie last night while putting together a big pre-fab furniture thing.

Ant-Man two is a good movie. I enjoyed it, but it’s not a world beater like the Captain America movies, or Ragnarok, or the Spider-Man movies. It’s good. I have no complaints. It’s just… The four movies that came before it were all WOW. The two movies that come after it are all WOWOWOWOWOW!!!!! Ant-Man Two is just really good. Weird how that makes it slightly forgettable, you know?

Now that it’s done though, it’s time for the big guns. The heavy shit. Infinity War and Endgame. Something like six hours of ridiculously awesome story. The two-pronged high water mark for Marvel, and really for super hero/comics movies in general. It’s probably going to take me days to get through both of them, unless Jen wants to watch them with me.

Bring ’em on, babie!

End of a Long Day

I started the day by carrying 10 tons of stuff downstairs.

At lunch today I carried two tons of stuff downstairs.

After work I carried five tons of stuff downstairs and put together the TV and hung a bunch of things on the walls.

Just before turning in for the night I carried 20 tons of stuff to the cellar and packed my bags for working in the office tomorrow.

Now it’s 10:00pm. My legs hurt. My back is in utter agony. I’m exhausted to my core. I should really go to sleep.

Naw, I’m going to watch the new episode of MoonKnight instead.

Check Off Another One

I wanted to write this earlier but I was busy moving my office space into the cellar.

Ragnarok is the best Marvel movie that doesn’t have Avengers or Captain America in the title. There. I said it. Ridiculously good flick. It took me three sittings to get through it, including having it playing on my iPad in the kitchen as I cooked dinner last night. How obsessed am I? Pretty obsessed.

Next is Ant-Man and the Wasp. I know it’s a good movie, but I honestly can’t remember what it’s about, apart from the end credit scene. Is the whole movie about getting Mrs Pym home, or is that just one sub-plot? I can’t remember. Once I get through that movie though… The Infinity War/Endgame bonanza begins. All of the Marvel movies are good, even when they aren’t that good (looking at you, Eternals), but none of them are even in the same space-time continuum as Infinity War and Endgame.

Let’s get there.

Also… I failed to watch MoonKnight this morning. DON’T SPOIL IT!

Only Nine Left

I had a pretty crummy nights sleep on Sunday. I had a crummier nights sleep last night. Part of it is from having everything thrown off with the contractor staying super late. Part of it is knowing that one week from today I will be on a clear liquids only diet in preparation for having my innards ripped apart and stapled back together. Yeah, that might be it.

Maybe I should distract myself with something so that I don’t freak myself out.

Maybe….

Doctor Strange is done. Check that one off. Interstellar Overdrive blared forth from the soundtrack and all was good. It’s a killer movie, but I have to admit he’s not my favorite character. I am looking forward to the sequel though. It looks pretty good.

Up next is Thor: Ragnarock. The moment when Thor stopped being over blown and pompous and a smidge on the boringish side and started being hilariously funny and really good. This is one of the MCU’s best moments. Also, I’m only two flicks away from Infinity War when the best of the best starts.

Easy Commute Day

I’m back in the office today. I’m supposed to come once a week, at least. I missed last week due to a 38 hour all nighter that threw off my whole world for a few days. I’m back today though. It’s school vacation week in Massachusetts, which means the commute was a breeze. We didn’t slow down once. If it were always that way I almost wouldn’t mind the 40+ mile drive each way.

We’re a little out of sorts on the home front. Our contractor didn’t show last night. He generally works two jobs each day. In the morning he does his other job, and then in the afternoon he comes and works for us. Yesterday his morning job held him up until after 6:00pm at least. We went a whole day without any progress. This is by no means a complaint, the guy has achieved super hero status in our book so if he has to miss a day that’s perfectly okay. We’re just off our game now as we are so close to being done that waiting an extra day is a bummer. I’d say it’s messing with our feng shui if I actually knew what feng shui meant. You know?

Not to change the subject or anything, but while I have your attention…

I watched Homecoming off and on over the last couple of days. A little here and there. I finished it last night. It’s a great movie. The one thing that stands out on this rewatch is that I forgot how many references there were to Aunt May being physically attractive. I knew there was some of that in Civil War, but I forgot that it comes up 1000 times in homecoming. It was a little annoying. My only other beef is a common one, the Spider-Man suit is too much like an Iron Man suit. I wish it was just… ya know… a suit.

Over all though, those complaints drop the rating down to about a 91 from a 92, or something like that. It’s a great freakin’ movie.

Up next is Black Panther. I was hoping to start it last night but I needed to sleep. I haven’t watched that one in a while. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll start it tonight.

Another Movie Down

Another day, another Marvel flick re-watched. Here comes the update!

I wasn’t sure if Black Widow would hold up to a second watch. It does. It might actually come off better now after seeing Yelena in the Hawkeye series. I enjoyed every second of that show, but really they just could have given us six episodes of Yelena and Kate hanging out and shooting the shit and it would have been worthwhile.

Up next is the first Spider-Man movie. Well… the first of the third incarnation of the Spider-Man movies. The first two Tobey Maguire movies rank among my favorite super hero movies ever. I haven’t seen either of the Andrew Garfield movies and the third Maguire wasn’t bad but it wasn’t that good either. I am not ready to say that the Tom Holland version of Spidey is the best, but when rolled into the greater MCU the three movies, especially the third, are pretty friggin’ fantastic.

What they are is great movies. What they are not is on Disney+. We have the first two on iTunes. I’m going to have to grab the third movie soon. I told Harry I’d get it when it came out, and it’s been out for a while now. Come on, Robert. Keep your word.

Not tonight though… tonight I am going to bed. Sleep tight, gentle readers.

Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer

So Doctor Strange 2 comes out on May 6th. Will I have the MCU rewatch complete by then? It would be cool to finish the rewatch and then immediately go see the new movie. Obviously that won’t work out because I am having surgery on May 4th, and also the pandemic is still a thing and I ain’t going anywhere near a movie theater for a while yet.

So I guess the question isn’t will I be done with the rewatch by the time the next movie comes out, but will I be done before the next movie hits Disney+. This new Thor movie, Thor #4, comes out in July. What will the world look like at that point? Much like Thor himself, will I be transformed from Fat Rob to Thin Rob? No. No I will not.

Will I be Thin Rob by the time Thin Thor hits Disney+? No, probably not. Stop fat shaming the god of thunder, fat boy.

Which Movie is My Favorite?

As I tick another Marvel movie off of my rewatch list I am left with a question. But first, the updated list…

Here is The Great 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe Chronological Rewatch of 2022 Update:

  • Phase four-ish
    • Eternals
    • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
    • Spider-Man: No Way Home

I said on one of these posts earlier that Captain America: Winter Soldier is my favorite Marvel movie, not counting the Infinity War/Endgame combo which destroys all other movies, but after tonight I don’t know if I can say that for sure.

My question for myself is, is Captain America: Civil War better than Winter Soldier? Apart from all of the previous Avengers (except Thor and The Hulk) we add Black Panther and Spider-Man into the mix. The airport fight scene, and the Cap/Bucky vs Iron Man fight at the end… It’s just a thrill a second ride from start to finish. Is Civil War better than Winter Soldier? I honestly don’t know.

Up next is Black Widow. I’ve only watched it once before but I was very happy with it. Will it hold up to a second watch? Let’s find out. The only beef I have with the flick is that it wasn’t made years earlier. I will never understand why they waited so long to give her a movie of her own. She deserves better.
