Who Knew?

As random subject matter posts go… this is one.

The inner lining of our shower curtain was getting pretty ratty. I thought it was time to replace it. Over the weekend I went to Target and bought a new one. I didn’t get around to actually hanging it until last night.

It didn’t fit.

It was way too small. Every shower curtain we’ve bought since we moved into the house has had 12 curtain ring holes. This one had 10. I still put it up, just to see what would happen, and it is not long enough to cover our entire shower.

So… shower curtain sizes are not standardized? Who knew? I totally did not know that. You mean all the shower curtains I’ve purchased in my life have been the correct size by accident? Really? Is that where all of the luck I’ve been hoping for when I play the lottery has been going? Have I been the luckiest shower curtain shopper in America all this time without really knowing it?

Guess I’m going out shower curtain shopping again after work tonight.

Bad Luck Charm

The Bruins lead the Wild 2-1 half way through the third period.

I want to listen to the end of the game on the radio but I’m afraid the Wild will score twice within seconds of me tuning in.

It’s happened before. I’ve been the Bruins’ bad luck charm. If I don’t listen and they hold on to win then they should thank me for staying way.

Or something like that.

Thoughts on Playoffs

There was a chance that Tampa Bay could have won the Stanley Cup last night, but Dallas ended up beating them in double overtime. It feels like Tampa has spent so much time in overtime that they’ve played an extra round or two.

In the past few weeks I’ve been making my playoff predictions for each round of the NHL playoffs. I’m going to end up with a positive record no matter who wins in the final round, but I am only slightly better than 50/50. If Dallas wins I will actually effectively be 50/50 at 8 right and 7 wrong. Where am I going with this?

Baseball. The Red Sox have had one of the worst seasons (win/loss percentage wise, the season ends today after game #60 rather than the usual 162) in franchise history. I’ve been paying attention to final scores most days, but generally they were so bad I couldn’t watch. That lead to me sort of taking a pass on the rest of the league too.

Now that the playoffs are about to start, I don’t know anything about any team in the running except that I effin’ loath the effin’ Yankees. Other than that, I’m clueless. That, plus my lack of success in the NHL playoffs gave me an idea…..

I am going to make post-season predictions for Major League Baseball, but I am going to decide my pick for each series with a coin flip. Yup. This is going to be a case of is Robbie luckier than fate. I suspect that I am not.

I don’t even know how they formatted things this year. Is there a one game play-in round? All I know is there are bubbles involved. I’ll figure it out and let you know.

Something to Worry About?

There is something that seems to be happening that has me worried about things and stuff.

Yesterday and today, and a couple of days last week, the traffic in the morning has been… Well… Good. Not perfect, but a 60 minute drive is tons better than a 90 minute drive, right?

Well sure, but… When is the luck going to run out? When does the other shoe drop? This can’t be normal, can it?

I’m definitely worried.

One of Those Days, in a Good Way

I am having one of those days where I am reminded how fortunate I am to have won the love of my wife, and how that luck is multiplied many times over that I have also won the love of my two step kids.

I honestly believe that I am the luckiest man alive. I could not possibly be happier than I am being a part of this family. I love them all so very much.
