This random Flickr photo post celebrates (laments) the end of the Clockwork Angels tour. The last show took place in Kansas City last night.
Lets hope we don’t have to wait too long for new Rush music. The remix of Vapor Trails is due to come out in October, and there is a rumored Clockwork Angels tour video/live album in the works as well.
That’s not what I mean though. I mean that I hope we don’t have to wait too long for a new album of new original music. That’s what I really want.
Thanks for a great tour, Geddy, Alex, and Neil.
ADDENDUM: Touch typing on the iPad seems like a good idea until you find 30 typos, misspellings, and auto-correct errors in three paragraphs.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flickr will be down until 1:00am Eastern Time! No, I can’t do without my Flickr!
I have a ton of picks from my step daughter’s performance today that need to be uploaded. What am I gonna do without Flickr??
The play was awesome. My step daughter played a blue alien with three eyes and an Irish accent who tried to talk her alien friends out of invading the Milky Way galaxy in search of Happy Meals. The kids were all grades four through eight. It was really fun.
I said here yesterday that Flickr was going down for like six hours for maintenance. It wasn’t yesterday, it’s today. Why can’t I read a full sentence anymore? I could blame it on being sick. I still feel sick, but not nearly as bad as before. I’m probably up to 70% well now. My poor sweetheart though, she’s got the bug in a bad way. She got out of bed, but I expect her to be back again shortly. In the meantime, we will be keeping the Kleenex corporation in business. Achoo and all that jazz.
I almost feel a little better today. Sort of. I’m still really congested but it’s not as bad as it was. I can almost (not quite) breath through my nose today. The coughing and sneezing are not entirely gone, but they have been reduced. I have a little more energy today, although not much. I’m still feeling run down. So I’m almost feeling a little better. Kind of.
Want to hear a little crazy talk? It’s been 10 days since I’ve had a sip of coca~cola. Coca~cola is my nemesis. I love it so. Oh, how I love that caramel colored, carbonated, caffeinated goodness. Sweet nectar of life, I love it so. But it is probably the #1 cause of my skyrocketing out of control weight. Every once in a while I try to cut it out of my diet. 10 days is a good start. I have also managed to completely avoid caffeine during that time too. I have not eliminated soda. I’ve been getting a Canada Dry Ginger Ale at lunch on the days I am in the office. There’s one sitting next to me right now. Other than that it has been water, water with flavoring, gatorade, or other fruit type juices. I did not weigh myself before jumping on the wagon, so I don’t know if I’ve lost any weight. I do know that I’ve managed to sleep better in the last couple of nights. I’ll take that as a plus. I have also been trying to avoid the cafeteria at lunch time. I’ve brown bagged it each day that I’ve been in the office, and avoided going out of pigging out like a madman when working at home. The gym has been tougher. I’ve only gone twice in the 10 days. Being sick got in the way a couple of times, but it’s still not a regular thing yet. I might try again tomorrow.
On a totally unrelated note, Flickr is shutting down for maintenance tonight from 4:00-10:00pm Pacific time. That means no uploading anything tonight. Not that I have anything to upload. I will now post one picture as an experiment to see if the site going down includes losing access to everything. You’re fascinated, I can tell.
How about a picture of a Union Jack, taken at Colonial Williamsburg? You know, in honor of the royal baby and all. Yeah, that.

What else is there. Oh, hockey. The NHL finally announced next season’s schedule. No word yet on how they plan to force the cancellation of half of it, the way they did last year. The league has been realigned. The Bruins are now in the Atlantic Division. No teams from the old Atlantic are in the new Atlantic. Most of those teams are in the… wait for it… Metropolitan Division.
Oh please, that’s the best you could do? Why not the Teams Sort of Closest to New York Division? Why not the Middle East Division. Cause… these are teams that are in the East, but south of New England and North of Florida, so they are kind of in the Middle of the East, therefore Middle East. Get it? Even that is better than Metropolitan Division.
Well, lunch break is ending. Time to pop some DayQuil and try and figure out some bugs. Happy Wednesday.
Ever since Flickr released their redesign I have been using the hell out of as much of the site as I can. I have been posting to groups more often, I have been marking more photos as favorites, I have been leaving more comments (although still not many) and I have been adding contacts galore. Flickr includes a recommended contacts page and sometimes I will just go and add 10 or so for no reason other than they are there. The result is a lot of really great looking stuff coming across my main page. I’ve come across a lot of talented folks who post a lot of really interesting stuff. I am pleased with my post-redesign Flickr experience.
Then yesterday something came across my main page that threw me. It was a picture of a white gravestone with one word carved into it, and the letters were covered in an orange/gold colored moss. My first thought was, I’ve seen that before. Then, I have a pic in my photostream just like that. Then, I wonder if it’s the same cemetery. Then, I wonder if its the same stone. Then, did someone steal my idea (har har). Then, did some one steal my picture!?!?!?
No. No one stole my picture. I found mine in my Methuen, MA set. It was very different. Theirs had the name Mother on the stone. Mine has Ralph. Theirs had moss sprinkled across the whole word. Mine had it clumped around a few letters. Theirs was taken in a cemetery in… in… Chicago? Philadelphia? Whatever, mine was taken in the cemetery on Grove Street in Methuen and their was not. Their photograph was awesome. Mine was not.

I looked at the other pictures I’ve taken that day, but I could not find the stone with Ralph’s last name. I did find that he had a brother named Jackson.
The plot that Ralph and Jackson are in is a family plot. I like the idea of these plots, and I like the look of them too. There is one large stone with the family name on it and all of the dates. Then there is a smaller stone marking each individual.
The Gleasons are a good example of this.

The Websters are also a good example.

The moral of this story is simple. Just because I saw something that was worth taking a picture, doesn’t mean that if some one else photographs something similar they are stealing my idea. I am not a photographer, I am a nerd with a camera. However, that does not mean that I can’t find the things I see cool, right? Right.
I created a new set on Flickr to hold all of the pictures I take of various wild animals who come and visit our back yard. I haven’t decided whether or not to include the snake I saw in the cellar today.
So I guess my camera wasn’t fast enough to get this little bird as it flew off the bird feeder, eh?
