Rain

The kids are at a concert with their father and their step mother. Jen is working. I’m sitting in the living room typing this and looking at a sleeping cat or two.

I want to shoot film at sunrise but I can’t because New England in April means rain on the weekends. Not just the weekends, of course, it just seems that way. Every Thursday or Friday I start looking forward to the weekend and I check the weather forecast and it’s always the same. It is always rain. Rain and gloom. Even the Red Sox have been in a rain delay for the last hour and a half or so.

I wish I could have made it into the city to join in on the Hands Off demonstrations today, but the kids were here and I would rather be with the kids than almost anything so I happily stayed home. One of these days there will be a certain ridiculously tall old person with red hair in one of those Boston throngs, I promise.

Until then, here’s a photo of Lily that I took a few minutes before she jumped up onto the ottoman and curled herself into a ball and fell asleep.

I think Jen and I are going to do dinner via DoorDash tonight. It’s a special day for us so we need to do something nice to celebrate. 18 years ago today, on April 5, 2007, we went on our first date. As special days go, today is a big one. I love her so much, and it all kicked off 18 years ago today. Our relationship is old enough to vote, assuming the u.s. will still have elections… you know… nazis in charge and all. Oh shit, I just brought politics into my happy first-date-aversary message. Fuck me. Sorry about that.

17 Years Ago Today

17 years ago today was a good day. I had met this woman on Myspace (hi, Tom!) and we’d been chatting and emailing for a while. On April 5, 2007 we met in person for the first time. An actual, honest to goodness date. We went to dinner at the Outback Steakhouse in Lowell and then went to a bar nearby and hung out for a while longer. It was a good date.

17 years later and we’re married. Still together. Like I said, it was a good first date.

Happy first-date-aversary, Jen. I love you more than ever.

Sixteen Years

Sure I had a migraine this morning and sure I had super bad foamies after only 1.2 ounces of chicken at dinner and sure I was nauseous and sure today was a hectic day at work and sure I had traffic going to and from the office and sure I am somehow sick to my stomach and hungry and my head is still a little off. Sure, all of that.

But you know what the biggest take away from today is?

Sixteen years ago tonight, Jennifer and I went on our first date.

Happy first date-aversary to the love of my life. Best first date ever, and the first day of the happiest and most wonderful time of my life. Good heavens, do I love her.

Shh, Don’t Tell Jen

My beloved wife and I celebrated our 15th first dateaversary tonight by having dinner and a movie together in the living room. We watched Iron Man because it was the next movie on The Great 2022 Marvel Chronological Rewatch of 2022, and because she said yesterday that she wanted to watch it.

We didn’t get all the way through. We stopped with about 45 minutes to go because I needed to go into the cellar and break the dryer. Like the klutz that I am.

After I was done with the destruction I finished my exercise ring for the day and she drifted away to sleep like the beautiful sleeping angel that she is. I wasn’t tired yet so I finished the movie. Don’t tell her! We started it on Disney+ but I finished it on the copy in our iTunes library. That means if she wants to watch the rest tomorrow we can pick up right where we left off on the Mouse App. She’ll never know! >Maniacal laugh<

Anyway, here is The Great 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe Chronological Rewatch of 2022 Update:

  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Captain Marvel
  • Iron Man
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Iron Man 2
  • Thor
  • Marvel’s The Avengers
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor: The Dark World
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Ant-Man
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Black Widow
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • Black Panther
  • Doctor Strange
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home
  • Eternals
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home

Up next is the second Hulk movie. It was a pretty serious flop, but I enjoyed it. I always loved The Hulk, probably because I am a huge awkward person who often (unintentionally) smashes things (see the prior mention of the dryer fiasco from earlier tonight). It’s not on Disney+, but I checked yesterday and saw that it is on HBO Max. I should double check that. Or I should go to sleep.

Yeah, sleep.
