Busy

I’m already tired.

It has begun.  That time of year when we go from being busy to being off the wall crazy busy.  Instead of just having to get the kids to and from piano and karate, we now have to get them to and from piano, karate, baseball, and softball, and unlike piano and karate they do not play baseball and softball together.  Tomorrow, they both have a game starting 30 minutes apart.  Monday, they both have games starting at the same time.  It’s madness!  It’s also fun.  Expect many updates on the status of baseball and softball games.  Who’s winning, who’s playing which positions in the field, who’s getting hits.  All that fun stuff.

Still, I’m tired.  I think allergies might be involved.  My step son is missing his second consecutive day of school with a fever.  Obviously that’s not allergy related, but I wonder if maybe he has a little allergy action adding to the misery.  We’re all tired and stuffy.  If that’s the price one pays for not freezing their ass off when they go out of the house, then it’s worth it.  I just wish I could breath and sleep a little better.

Let’s not forget that we’re less than a week away from more of this:

Even though we are only a week removed from this:

The Bruins play game two of their first round series with the Leafs tomorrow.  They spanked the Leafs hard in game one.  Let us hope that continues.

The Red Sox… kinda rule.  Who knew that all they needed to do to erase the horror of last season was trade their most expensive players and fire  schmucko the clown.  They have the most wins and the highest winning percentage in all of the majors.  Please please please please please let this not be a fluke.  Last year was so painful, I can’t take a collapse this year.  I just can’t.  World Series of Bust, babie!  (says the guy who was hoping for nothing more than a .500 season)

Bald Eagle? Maybe?

What kind of bird is this? by robj_1971
What kind of bird is this?, a photo by robj_1971 on Flickr.

I posted pics of a bunch of birds we saw in Virginia. Most of them seem to be vultures. This one, however… is this a bald eagle?

If only I’d had my Nikon 55-200 mm F/4 5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR Zoom lens on instead of my Nikkor AF-S DX 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VR. (he said as if he knew what he was talking about) I would have been able to get closer to this bird and maybe had an easier time figuring out what it was.

Virginia Safari Park

We went to the Virginia Safari Park a couple of days ago. Think of it as a drive through petting zoo.

I fed llamas. Have you ever fed a llama? I didn’t think so. I win.

Llama are intelligent animals. This dude’s mission was to block the road so we couldn’t drive off without feeding all of his buddies.

Llama are also skilled at swarm attacks.

Have you ever been close enough to a bison that you could grab his horn? Yeah, I have. Guess I win again. Although you will notice that my window is rolled up and all of me is safely within the car where the huge bison can’t get me.

Are these guys black with white stripes or white with black stripes?

What was the name of the old 80’s video game where the character rode an ostrich? Was it Joust?

Foamhenge

Today we bore witness to one of the wonders of the ancient world.

Nobody knew who they were, or what they were doing.

Sort of.

*****Foamhenge*****

Hidden away in the mysterious land known as Natural Bridge, Virginia, is a wonder of wonders.  A life sized replica of Stonehenge, done in foam.  Oh, it is a site to behold.  Jen read somewhere that it was actually done as an April Fools joke, but it was so strikingly awesome that it was never taken down.

It looks a little weather beaten, and there is evidence to suggest that some less than classy individuals have actually chipped pieces off of it, but what remains now is a living testament to how goofy folks can be.

Suffice to say, it is awesome beyond words.
