For years I have been worried that Flickr was going to die and I wouldn’t have a place to host my gigantic mountain of pictures anymore.
Yesterday, a back up service may have presented itself. Google Photos… which considering I started hosting photos on Google Picassa before moving to Flickr’s unlimited storage service isn’t too hard to imagine. Google Photos offers unlimited storage, but not at full resolution. That’s a big negative, but if this terrible Flickr Free world ever exists I will live with it. It has an auto upload function that seems very similar to the one Flickr just added, and the search functions seem similar too, although Google > Yahoo when it comes to search. It has facial recognition too, which Flickr does not (yet).
The big test is can I use it to host pictures on the old bloggerooski. If you see Rush on this post then the answer is yes. If you don’t, then Flickr still rules the online photo universe.
My blu ray copy of the Clockwork Angels Tour doesn’t play on our Playstation 3. It plays on the blu ray player downstairs, but it fails miserably on the PS3.
I guess we’ll go with R30 on blu ray instead. The PS3 still likes that one.
The Rush Clockwork Angels Tour video comes out on DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow. I may not be able to get it right away, but I expect to have one by the weekend.
They are running the video in select movie theaters tonight. Mike the bass player got me a ticket. He got one for my beloved too, but she is not feeling up to it.
It won’t be fun without her, and it will never be as cool as sitting/standing in the 9th row anyway.
This random Flickr photo post celebrates (laments) the end of the Clockwork Angels tour. The last show took place in Kansas City last night.
Lets hope we don’t have to wait too long for new Rush music. The remix of Vapor Trails is due to come out in October, and there is a rumored Clockwork Angels tour video/live album in the works as well.
That’s not what I mean though. I mean that I hope we don’t have to wait too long for a new album of new original music. That’s what I really want.
Thanks for a great tour, Geddy, Alex, and Neil.

Did you enjoy your 4th of July, USA? We sure did. Alas, it is now in the past and today is just plain old July 5th. I have to work today, but I get to work from home. My beloved wife has the day off but is going to be working hard on a number of non-work things at her desk, so she’s sort of working from home too. The kids woke up here today, but their father asked if we could please bring them to his house as if it were a normal Friday. He must have something planned for today. I hope the kids have as much fun today as they did yesterday.
So today started out like a normal Friday. Jen got up, then the kids got up, then I got up. All around 6:00am. The kids got ready for the day. I took a shower and got ready for the day. At a couple minutes past 7:00 the kids and I went up North to their dad’s house. I stopped at a convenience store and dunkin donuts on the way home.
When I got home the first thing my beloved wife said to me was, “want to go to Ontario?” She was referring to tomorrow night’s Rush show in Hamilton, Ontario. (What’s the correct abbreviation of Ontario now? It used to be ONT, but Canada has gone to a two letter system like ours, haven’t they? Ontario is ON now, right? Or is it OT? It’s ON. I think. I’ll just spell it out until I Google it. Ontario it is) Me being slightly psychotic said, “Sure!”
Are you aware that if you drive from greater Boston, Massachusetts to Hamilton, Ontario (Neil Peart’s birthplace) you will go past Niagara Falls? Fascinating, eh? Did we just stumble upon a major league weekend road trip?
I sure hope so!
WOOHOO!
Rush in Canada!
You knew the pic flood was coming right? I mean, we were in the 9th row!
I couldn’t really see the string players from where I was standing.

The dude with the white shirt in the middle here was air violining. Not air guitaring, or air bassing, or as most people do at Rush shows, air drumming… no. This dude was air vilolining.
