Four birds at one feeder! Birdie jackpot!

Red Sox / Yankees
Is there anything better than Red Sox vs Yankees baseball?
Sox down 8-4 in the seventh inning. Full count, two outs, bases loaded. Napoli lifts one into right field that just barely squeaks its way into the seats.
Grand Slam.
Tie game.
Go Red Sox!
Google Street View
I was just trying to plot a highway-free route home from work (no way Jose) and I was using Google Maps. You can now walk through all of the turns in the suggested route using a split screen with the map on the bottom and Street View on the top.
When the route got to it’s final destination I was curious what our house looked like. I thought that it would probably be a picture from before we moved in, if there was a picture at all. Wasn’t I surprised to find that it was most definitely during our home ownership. I can even give you a date range for when the picture was taken. It was some time after October 7, 2011. How do I know? Because the tree was gone!
I was also happy to see that the grass was green, and even happier to see that the grass was cut. >whew<
I wouldn't want to have to call Google and ask them to come back for a reshoot. I just wish I could have seen the camera car in the act.
Cat Sense
As someone who has a pet cat but knows absolutely nothing about what makes Ms Kitty’s brain tick, I listened to an interview on NPR last night with an author named John Bradshaw who has written a book called Cat Sense.
Check it out, or just read the article. Thanks to this interview I was able to spend 20 minutes this morning fascinating the kids with talk of cat behaviors and why they do what they do.
You can learn why laser pointers are so much fun. You can learn what those little dead mice really mean. (we have one in our driveway right now… even though Patches is a 100% indoor cat. Coincidence? Yes. Will I clear the carcass? Yes, but probably not until tomorrow morning… unless some other critter gets it first)
Another Sign that Summer is Over
Are you ready for another depressing sign that summer is depressingly over?
I just went outside to start the grill so that I could cook myself a burger and a dog for lunch. The grill wouldn’t start. I think it’s out of gas.
Somehow that’s even more depressing than being three days past Labor Day.
Summer really is over, kids. It’s time to start crying.

This My Life Now
Kid Morning Commute
I haven’t checked the time and distance on a commute that follows dropping off the kids in the morning. It’s also September now, so the times are going to be drastically longer.
Case in point. On Friday evening I pulled out of my parking spot at about 5:40 and pulled up to the house at about 6:30. That’s 50 minutes, and is the best time I could possibly hope for.
How’d I do this morning?
Four minutes shy of double the time from last Friday. This is my life now.

The Old Ebay She Ain’t What She Used to Be
I won three auctions on ebay two weeks ago. All vinyl records, all less than $10. One seller went deadbeat on me within minutes of the auction ending. Suddenly and tragically the seller’s paypal had to be changed. He graciously refunded the money that I gave him immediately after the auction ended and told me to let him know when I was ready so that he could relist the item. Unbelievably, some one else bought it before I could bid. Oh woah is me!
The first auction I won was for a copy of 2112. The estimated ship by date was for all of last week through today. Guess what hasn’t arrived.
The third auction went fine and it arrived in the mail today. I guess one out of three ain’t bad.
