Down the Tubes

I was supposed to go to Burlington next weekend to visit my step daughter at school. That’s off the table now and I’m pretty pissed about it. I have to be available for work, and a three hour drive is not being available. I’m not mad that I have to work, it’s likely I won’t actually have to work at all, I just have to be around just in case. I’m mad that this is the second time our visit plans have fallen apart. Originally we were supposed to be up there this weekend but that fell through. Going next weekend was plan B. I was really looking forward to this and now it’s gone. Now I won’t be seeing her until Thanksgiving.

Jen is still going. There is no way I would even dream about trying to stop her. My step son was supposed to have the place to himself for a couple of days, but that’s off the table now too. I’m thinking about locking myself in my room so he can at least pretend he’s on his own. I doubt that will work though.

File this one under disappointment. Crud.

Weight Watchers Fail

I overslept a little and missed my weight watchers meeting.  It was by accident but probably subconsciously on purpose.  So no weigh in today, but consider me back on the wagon.  I just had a zero point breakfast.  Suck it, fat ass.

Today I have one goal.  Don’t eat junk food.

Actually, today I have two goals.  Don’t eat junk food and don’t go to work. If Jen wants to work then I’ll play my guitar some and maybe binge watch The Good Place (Jen and the kids are finished with season 3, I just started season 2.  I need to catch up so we can all watch season 4 together).  If Jen wants to do something else, then we’re doing that something else.

No junk food.

Zero points, for the win.

Major League Baseball Post Season

As I mentioned yesterday, the crushing end of the Bruins season in game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals took all of my sports-watching interest and flushed it down the toilet.  I had been following the Red Sox pretty closely prior to that, even though they were mired in a spectacularly mediocre World Series hangover, but once the Bruins lost I just couldn’t bear it anymore and I more or less gave up on baseball entirely.

Due to this, I have no idea what’s going on as the playoffs begin.  I missed the wild card games entirely, and now we’re into the Division round and I barely know what’s going on.

Allow me then to announce who I am publicly rooting for in the MLB Post Season:

In the Houston vs Tampa Bay series, I am an Astros fan.  Screw you, Devil Rays.

In the St Louis vs Atlanta series, I don’t give a flying leap.  I hope they both lose.

In the Washington vs Los Angeles series, I also don’t give a flying leap.  Having said that, I hate the Dodgers with a passion, so I guess I’m a Nationals fan.  I guess.

In the Minnesota vs New York series, LETS GO TWINKIES!  BEAT THOSE EFFIN YANKEES!  In other words, I may have taken the season off from being a baseball fan, but I haven’t given up entirely.

Go Twinkies.

Hockey Happiness

The Boston Bruins are currently undefeated for the 19/20 NHL season.  Bliss!  Now they just need to keep this streak going for 81 more regular season and 16 playoff games.  We might as well etch their names on the Stanley Cup today.  They’ve got this thing pretty much wrapped up!

note: if they lose game two on Saturday I’ll probably be thrown into a massive depression.  That’s how it is with Boston sports fans.  I mean, I don’t follow football at all, but I know the Patriots are 4-0 right now.  Should they lose this weekend it’s guaranteed there will be a long parade of Pats fans lining up to hurl themselves off the Tobin bridge and into sweet oblivion.  We tend to take shit like this seriously here in Boston.  You’ve been warned.
