How I met your mother on the TV and the Bruins and Maple Leafs (round one, game two) on the computer.

I was going to post something with these two pictures last night but I forgot to. I took these from the car while driving home after band practice. We let out just in time to catch some sunset action.
Not just a haiku for you, but a Hockey Haiku for You.
Bruins game tonight.
Game two with the Maple Leafs.
Let’s hold that home ice!
Lily and Robin sat in on my daily group check in call. They didn’t contribute much to the discussion though.
On the rare occasions that the sun is actually out, it comes roaring through the windows in back of the house in the morning. That’s why I have the two plants there. It’s also why the cats love coming in here first thing in the morning. They are digging that crazy sunshine.
Today’s question is pretty funny. It is a laugh riot. What makes me nervous? What doesn’t make me nervous. Literally everything makes me nervous.
The usual big ticket items make me nervous. Fascism taking over my country makes me nervous. The maga cult moving into my neighborhood makes me nervous. Money makes me nervous. Food, clothing, and shelter make me nervous. Cancer makes me nervous. Dementia makes me nervous. All the big scary things.
The unusual little things make me nervous too. Breathing. Crossing the street. Both sleeping and waking up. Most other people. The sky. The ground. All of it. Everything. Literally everything.
I guess I am an all purpose kinda nervous wreck. I do my best to deal with it and hide it from the normal folks, but it’s always there and everything can set it off.
Everything.
We had some moments tonight that were pretty good. Unfortunately it’s going to be a while before we can rehearse together again.
Also… am I a Vox amp guy now? This rig sounded pretty freakin’ sweet tonight.
I’m packed up and ready for tonight’s band practice. One step closer to being ready to audition singers…. Or more like to try to find singers to audition. something like that.
Jen and I just got home from a mini birthday party for my father. We booked the assisted living facility’s little dining room and had cupcakes and pie for his birthday. I brought a cupcake from the sugar free bakery so that I could play along. I only took one picture and it has an underage nephew in it so I won’t share it. All three of my nephews and my niece were all there. I really love seeing them. The two oldest kids are in high school now. They are so grown up. Having everyone there made me especially miss my kids, Harry and Bellana. They are both in Vermont while we’re all in Massachusetts. I miss them all the time, but I especially miss them during little family get togethers.
Other than that it was a nice little birthday party for my dad. 83 years old and still going strong. Many happy returns, Dad.
Okay, I finished the new Rebel Moon movie. As bad as the first half was (see the post from earlier today), the second half is better. Why? Because with about an hour left in the movie it turns into an unending string of action scenes with almost no dialog. Perfect. It has an obnoxious amount of slow motion, but that’s Zack Snyder for you.
There are a whole bunch of Chekov’s Gun moments. Character A picks up weapon B and dies without using it. 15 minutes later character C is about to die but stumbles on weapon B and uses it to blow shit up. That happens a few times. There is also multiple deus ex machina moments. One of the funniest moments in the movie is where the source of a deus ex machina stands regally and watches a different deus ex machina play out. It’s freakin’ absurd.
Is the movie good? Oh, hells no. Is it as bad as the reviews? Yes. The first half is worse, the second half is just one long, unending battle scene and therefore avoids all of the things that are awful about the first half. It’s still not great, but it’s better. Not enough to save the film from this review though: Terrible.
Will there be another one of these movies? From the story point of view, yes… of course there will. From the standpoint of Netflix and money? Who knows. If people are watching it then probably. If that is the case then you can blame me. Sorry about that.
Unrelated musical note. I finally got around to putting volumes five and six of Quarantine Tunes onto my bandcamp account. Not because I expect anyone to buy it… please don’t buy it… please, it is not worth any money… but so I could add them to my music page here on the ol’ bloggie. I am one mix away from finishing volume seven. I’ll probably post that to bandcamp and the music page as soon as it’s finished.
