I’ve been watching The Walking Dead pretty religiously since season three. They are in the middle of season 10 now and the show is so good it’s unbelievable. There were some lean years quality wise, but right now it’s absolutely stellar.
We started watching This is Us not long after it first aired. It’s probably the best straight drama I’ve ever seen on television. Game of Thrones and Walking Dead are dramatic excellence too, but they are more action/fantasy/horror than just straight drama. This is Us is just superb.
I just realized that the two shows are connected.
In seasons five and six of The Walking Dead, Alexandra Breckenridge played Jessie Anderson, and Austin Abrams played her son Ron Anderson. They were both involved in the TV adaptations of one of the most iconic moments in the entire comic book run (“Dad?….”).
Throughout the whole run of This is Us, Alexandra Breckenridge has played Sophie, the ex-wife of one of the main characters. I just noticed that in the current season, season four, Austin Abrams is playing Marc, the prick boyfriend of the teenage version of one of the main characters.
I think this means that This is Us takes place in The Walking Dead universe. At some point they are going to have a story line where The Big Three have to fight off zombies. It’s going to be one part gore-fest, and one part emotional roller coaster.
You heard it here first.
