Traffic Turkey

I was out of the house before 7:30 this morning. (I don’t remember exactly when I left. It was probably closer to 7:20)

I got to my desk at work at 9:32.

Two hours. It took me two hours to drive 43 miles.

Why?

There were no accidents, no break downs, no construction. It was raining a little That must be why I averaged about 20 miles per hour for the whole drive. Of course. Drizzle.

At least I got to see some turkeys in the back yard this morning.

Beach Day

As soon as you walk into the office today it hits you.

HEAT.

Something’s up with our environmental systems and the heat has been blasting like crazy all morning. It feels like it’s 90 degrees in here.

It feels like a beach day.

Not Good Post Script

I was hoping that if I shared last night’s inability to sleep with the universe it would un-jinx me and I’d be able to nod off. It didn’t work. At least not right away. It also didn’t help that I snapped awake at 4:30. All in all I got about four hours of sleep or so.

It is going to be a long, long day.

10 Songs

There are only nine songs on this playlist. The 10th song is an old pre-Prime Meridian thing that I want to resurrect. One of these is a left over from February. Another is a left over from March. The other seven didn’t exist prior Friday night. They are just in the phrase/fragment stage for now, but they’ll grow up to be real songs. Do they suck? Why yes, every single one of them sucks. Do I care? Hell no. Do I ever care? Hell no.

Hawk

I over slept a little this morning. When I did wake up I wanted to get out of bed, but Patches the kitty was lying down next to me and I just couldn’t disturb her.

When I eventually did sit up she was very adamant about me petting her, so I just sat there and spent some quality time with her.

That was when I just happened to look out the window. I just happened to see one of our friendly neighborhood hawks glide casually across the back yard. I’d say it was 8-10 feet high and coasting along slowly. I stood up to get a better look (Patches was pissed) but I couldn’t see where it went.

Our Seventh First-Date-Aversary

Seven years ago today I was nervous. I was sitting at my desk in Framingham and I was freaking out a little bit. I still had a couple of hours left to go before I could leave the office, but it wasn’t work that was messing with my head.

I had plans that evening. After work I was to drive to Lowell, MA to meet this nice girl I had been chatting with online. It was our first face to face meeting. It was our first date. Yeah, I was nervous all right.

We met at the Outback Steakhouse in Lowell. After dinner we went to the Brewery Exchange, also in Lowell. We were out pretty late for a weeknight for two responsible adults. I had a great time the whole date and I didn’t want it to end. Apparently, the nice girl didn’t want it to end either. When it was over we both wanted to see each other again.

That was seven years ago. How have things gone since then? Well, we’re happily married. I am the luckiest man alive.

Happy first-date-aversary, Jen!

Musically Successful Day

Last night I started recording ideas for the first April song. I’m up to song idea number four. That’s right, I’ve stitched together three more since I woke up today. All of the ideas originated on the guitar. I feel happy about that, even if my playing is getting worse and worse by the minute.

It’s all been on the iPad. I noodle together a phrase, record it, then add drums and bass via Garageband, then I rerecord the guitar so that it’s almost actually in time. I guess just having a click track isn’t enough for me anymore. Was it ever? Who knows.
