1978 Revisited

The Red Sox and the Yankees both won. Toronto and Seattle have been eliminated.

The wild card play in game is Tuesday at 8:00 at Fenway Park in Boston, MA.

Unlike the last time these two teams met at Fenway for a one game play off, Bucky Fucking Dent will not be starting at shortstop for New York. Praise be to the Fenway gods.

Whichever team comes out on top on Tuesday will win the honor of getting slaughtered by Tampa Bay.

Go Red Sox.

Another Celebration

Did you celebrate last night? Did you party into the wee hours? Did you join in the love fest felt all across Red Sox Nation?

We Sox fans have had a lot to celebrate this month. First we clinched a post season spot. While we had our eyes on a bigger prize, we did not get too out of control for that one. Rightfully so. We clinched the American League East. That was the bigger prize. The bubbly flowed free in the Sox clubhouse that night, and many a fan let their glee free as well. Then came the most recent excuse to go crazy in celebration. It happened last night.

The New York Yankees were eliminated from post season contention.

Yeah, baby! Send those damn Yankees home! Give them their little three inch tall participation trophy and wish them a happy off season. I hope you all go on great vacations as you spend your Yankee fortunes. Don’t let the playoff door hit you on the ass on the way out!

It’s only the second time in the last 19 years that the Yankees failed to make the post season.

And it feels so very good.

Go Red Sox

Red Sox / Yankees

Is there anything better than Red Sox vs Yankees baseball?

Sox down 8-4 in the seventh inning. Full count, two outs, bases loaded. Napoli lifts one into right field that just barely squeaks its way into the seats.

Grand Slam.
Tie game.

Go Red Sox!

VICTORY!

That’s right kids, your Boston Red Sox are now in first place in the American League East division!  Oh Yeah!  We are , babie!  all the way!

(yes, I know it’s only one game and I know there are still 161 more to go, and I know that the Sox/Yankees game that just ended is the only final score the division has had yet. I know all of that. I don’t care. Don’t ruin this for me, you jerks. It has been a long, long time)

Red Sox

Oh hey, tomorrow is April first. You know what that means, right?

Redemption, muthas!

Red Sox opening day. The Sox take on the F*#%€£g Yankees at 1:00. Schmucko the Clown is gone, the pitching staff gets a fresh start, the chicken and beer fiasco is in the distant past.

Redemption! Cart Blanche. The record is 0-0. I don’t expect the World Series, but I’m optimistic that we won’t be setting any franchise records for futility. 82 wins or bust, baby!

Go Red Sox!
