Vote

Tonight at just after 7:00pm I cast ballot number 345 in Methuen, MA precinct five. It was just under an hour before the polls close. It’s 8:00pm as I type this so I can now say past tense, the polls closed.

There were no races of consequence, really. One local race was unopposed, another had about 15 candidates for 35 seats. Another was President Biden running against a few people I’ve never heard of who have zero chance of winning. There was one two candidate race. Maybe my vote will have meaning in that one.

That’s okay. I feel like a hypocrite when I miss an election. Even when there are no races that require a large turn out. We’ll have one of those in November this year. Vote against the fascists. Vote against the maga cult. Vote against trump. Vote for Biden. Vote Democrat. Let’s have a blue wave. We have eight months to organize. Let’s do it.

Indicted Again

Third time is the charm? This is the one I’ve really wanted. String him up by his treasonous toes.

He’s still going to win the nomination by a landslide though because half of the people in this country are at best fascist sympathizers. There is no America left to save. Not really.

More Indictments Coming?

Trump went on his nazi social network today to tell us that he may be getting another indictment soon. This time for his actions on January 6, 2021.

That’s what you get when you try to overthrow my country’s legally elected democratic government. I hope they throw him in jail for the rest of his life.

Granted, as much fun as all of these indictments are (this would make it three, and Georgia may soon make it four), I think the fun is wearing off. I think now what we need is some convictions. Especially convictions that are paired with long prison sentences.

Donald Trump has been Arrested

It’s not as awesome as I would have thought, but it’s still pretty wonderful.

The arraignment was scheduled for 2:15pm, which was about 25 minutes ago. The hearing will not be broadcast so we won’t get to watch live. I don’t know if there will be video released after the fact. I hope so.

There are apparently 34 felony counts. They are all business related though, at least in part due to the Stormy Daniels hush money. None of them are related to his attempted coup on January 6, 2021. The nazi prick needs to go away forever for that, but I’d be okay with him already being in jail when that particular sentence is announced.

I was also hoping we’d get a mug shot to revel in for a while, but some of the stories I’ve read say he is not going to have one taken. Other stories say it’s unclear if he will or not, but it’s seeming a little doubtful. Oh well.

Ban Me, Please

So we know that Donny the nazi cheeto started a social media thing that’s just a twitter clone because the big mean old twitter people banned him for inciting violence like the evil, treasonous, nazi piece of shit that he is. They took his binkie away so he started his next failed business to get back at them.

I have read a couple of things saying that the new site is so riddled with bugs that it’s effectively useless. Is that true? I also heard that the waiting list to have your account creation approved is gigantic so even if you want to join donny’s nazi crusade you can’t.

Now I hear that NPR reviewed the terms of service and found out that users are prohibited from disparaging the site’s backers. In other words, if you say bad things about snowflake cheeto donnie the nazi, you’ll get banned from the site.

Never before have I wanted to get banned from a social media app more than I do right now. I want very much to sign up for that idiotic site and just blast that nazi piece of shit over and over and over and over again until they ban me. That would be some serious social media satisfaction right there.

Happy Presidents Day

Happy Presidents Day, everyone!

Now for me personally, I really don’t agree with having a holiday celebrating the fact that we have had presidents. I would rather have a day celebrating some specific person from our history, but whatever.

Over the last four years Presidents Day has been extra hard to stomach, given that the guy sitting in the office was a fascist, racist, cheeto whose very existence soiled the position in which he “served”. Now that the scumbag is gone though we can enjoy the day again.

Happy day that celebrates 45 out of 46 US presidents, and thanks again to President Biden for literally being alive.

Impeachment

Now that trump is ancient history I have been able to take my eyes away from the White House without fear of it resulting in atomic annihilation. Words cannot express how good that feels. The adults are back in charge.

Mostly.

I haven’t watched the Impeachment proceedings, but every so often I check on the news (or, worse, twitter) and I read something about how insane the Republican party has become. Moscow Mitch says they should vote their conscience. What if they have no conscience?

Is the impeachment constitutional? Yes. Obviously. He was still president when he was impeached. Is inciting a deadly attack on the US Capitol impeachable? Duh. There you go. Constitutional scholar, QED.

I am more interested in Georgia opening an investigation into his election tampering. The punishment for that should have some teeth. We’ll see.

Until then, just keep repeating to yourself that the grownups are back in charge.

The Last Full Day

I wanted to take tomorrow off so that I could glue myself to the television and gleefully watch the Inauguration. I’m actually in a place at work where I need to take vacation time or I’ll lose it, so Wednesday the 20th seemed perfect. Unfortunately, I have FIVE meetings booked on the 20th. There are things going on at home today too, so I took today off instead. I’m actually doing the opposite of what I would have done tomorrow. I’m trying to stay away from the news, mostly.

Today is trump’s last full day as president. The twice impeached, terrorist, baby cager who has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans via Covid-19 is about to leave office. One part of me is thrilled beyond measure. Most of me is scared shitless. After the events of January 6th when his cult graduated from whack jobs to terrorists, I have been terrified of what comes next. We’re down to the last 24 hours or so and if something is going to happen, it’s going to happen soon.

On the plus side, we’re a day away from having actual adult non-narcissists who are capable of simple human empathy in charge of the Covid-19 response and the vaccination plans. Assuming the coup d’état is behind us (pretty please?) then the longest, most nightmarish four year stretch of my personally experienced American history is almost over.

An Agonizing Wait

The wait is killing me slowly. Like, the five day wait for the end of the twice impeached one termer’s first and only term is just too much to handle. The end is so close, yet so far away. So desperately far away. Cheeto can do so much damage in five days.

Biden gave a speech about Covid-19 plans today and it reminded me of what it used to be like when we had a president who was presidential and not a vindictive, petty, buffoon, toddler man. Remember? Remember what it was like to have a real human being as president and not a spray tanned cheeto with a blob of steel wool stapled to his head?

Five days. January 16, 17, 18, 19, and then the day it happens, January 20th. It’s going to feel so good to have a grown up in charge again.
