Quiz

Few things in life make me feel as pathetic as getting a question wrong on The Talking Dead’s weekly quiz. Three weeks in a row saw me missing one of the three questions. Last night’s quiz though?

Three for three.

Oh yeah, the kid* is back!

*and by “kid” I mean “insufferable nerd”.

It’s Going to be a Long Night

The season premier of The Walking Dead starts in a touch over one hour.

We don’t have cable in the house anymore, so I will be downloading the episode from the iTunes season pass. Unfortunately the episode does not become available until around 3:00am tomorrow morning. Amazon video and the AMC iOS app are on the same schedule.

That means I am about one hour from turning my house into a spoiler free zone. I will do that by taking all of my connected devices off line until tomorrow morning. I hope to be able to sneak a viewing of the new episode before work tomorrow, but until that happens I can’t be anywhere near twitter or facebook or instagram or myspace or friendster or anything.

…and I just ran out of episodes of Rick and Morty on Hulu.

It’s going to be a long night, friends. A long ass kicker of a night.

Walking Dead Trailers

Today was The Walking Dead day at the San Diego Comic con. Well… at least I think it was. I really don’t know the convention scenes. Regardless, there are two new trailers to psych us up. First, the trailer for Season Six of The Walking Dead. Four minutes of… well… nothing really. But still, awesome.

Possibly more interesting, and definitely more imminent, is a trailer for Season One of the spin off show, Fear the Walking Dead.

The new show premiers on my kid brother’s birthday. Happy Birthday, John! Now lets watch civilization end! WOOHOO! I read a live tweet of the two panels. Sounds like Fear the Walking Dead won’t be quite as… gooey is the original show, as the zombies haven’t had much time to come unglued. I’m really looking forward to seeing where they go with this. In the original show, civilization falls off camera. In the new show, we’re going to get a front row seat.

Something About Lions

Today is March 30, 2015.  I pulled into a parking spot at work at about 8:45.  As I stepped out of the car it started to snow (I don’t thinks those two events are actually related, it was just coincidence that they happened at the same time).

Remember that old saying about weather in March?  In like a lion, out like a lamb?

Not this year.

This year it’s in like a lion, out like a slightly warmer lion.

Spring is never going to really come again, is it.  Never.  At least The Walking Dead season ended last night.  I might be able to get a good night sleep on Sundays for a while.  Then again, there is that spin off show starting in the summer.  What happens if they put that on Sunday nights too?  Uh oh.

NaSoAlMo Song #6

I am going to post this even though alonetone.com is being really, really weird tonight.

If that doesn’t work then you can listen to this… it’s from soundcloud. I feel dirty posting anything from soundcloud. Every time someone uses soundcloud to embed a track onto their blog a kitten dies. Really. It’s true.

Now, if I told you that the lyrics to this turkey were based on an episode of The Walking Dead, you would be able to tell which one, right? (The title is a giveaway)

FiOS Mobile

Weird…

When we first switched back to Verizon FiOS I tried viewing live TV on their mobile app. It didn’t work for me. Either something changed or I did something wrong because it worked tonight. I’m not sure what possessed me to try again, but The Walking Dead sure seems a lot longer with commercials. Heh heh.

Failure Day

I recorded the guitars for RPMarch02 this morning. I wanted to do more. I really did. I wanted to do more guitars during lunch, and I wanted to do some vocals in the car during the kids’ karate class.

I did none of that. I didn’t get a lunch break. Today was major stressful and I just couldn’t stop. I left the laptop at home during karate and just watched The Walking Dead on my iPad.

(After last week’s gut punch of an episode I have decided to start season four over again to see if I can pick up any clues. Look at the flowers, Lizzie.)

I’m not giving up on March, but I am thinking that RPMarch might be turning into RPMarch/April. We shall see.

Mondays Suck

Today was the third Monday I’ve worked since getting promoted (already?) and losing my second telecommuting day. It’s the first one that hurt though, for two reasons.

Jen and I over slept this morning. Not much, just a little. Hell, it wasn’t even enough to make me late for work. I left at the usual time, but I had to skip packing my lunch. The kids were at their fathers this weekend. Had I been able to work form home today I actually would have been able to stay in bed for two more hours. That hurt. That hurt in a big way.

The second way not telecommuting hurt is sillier. Season four of The Walking Dead is winding down. On a tele-Monday I would have watched last night’s episode before work. Even with driving in today, I still tried to watch before work. I said I left home at the normal time, but today is St Patrick’s Day as well as the Boston-only holiday, Evacuation Day. Traditionally it is an easy drive day. I downloaded last night’s episode onto my phone in the hopes I’d get to work fast enough to watch it in the parking lot.

The file is 43 minutes long. I parked in the lot at 8:20. Ssssssso close. I started watching, but after 17-18 minutes I stopped and went inside. It was cold, the screen is small, the show was dark (literally as well as figuratively) and hard to see. I watched the rest when I got home. I’m glad I waited for a bigger view.

Oh. My. God. That was the most difficult story since Sofia came out do the barn. Mind blowingly awesome. Brutal and terrible and heart destroyingly painful, but awesome. Television does not get any better,

So now I sit here, in between periods of the Bruins vs Wild game. Wishing I’d gotten an extra chunk of sleep and wishing I’d watched some great tv in one sitting. I miss my second telecommuting day. Indeed I do.
