Spring started yesterday.
Today is the first full day of Spring, and the first day that isn’t even a little bit in the Winter season.
The forecast for this coming Wednesday calls for a blizzard.
Even when it’s not Winter, I hate Winter.
It is definitely time to move to San Diego.

Today is the day! It has finally arrived!
Today is the first day of Spring! Hooray! Winter’s seemingly endless oppression is finally over!
Of course the temperature is only just above freezing and it’s going to rain all day, so it’s not really a glorious first day of Spring.
I’ll take it!

Here we see HipstaKitty rediscovering the seasonal thrills of an open window. Every sound makes her jump. She spent the whole day giving the evil eye to every chirping bird.
One thing that telecommuting allows you to do is be a little productive around the house during lunch breaks. Lately I have spent my at-home-lunches recording music. Today I took out some trash, brought the barrels in from outside so that the hungry wild kingdom can’t spill them all over the yard, and I cleaned out the cat’s litter box. It cannot be said that our Patches is full of shit. No way.
Anyway, when I walked outside I strolled around to the back of the house to make sure the yard survived the winter and I saw something I’d been seriously hoping to see… longing to see… needing to see.
Color.
Actual color. Not the drab winter brownish/nothing color, but actual green.

Oh yeah, and there is also a kitty named Patches.
Spring. It’s here. It’s really here. Granted it’s pretty cold out there right now, but it’s still Spring. Screw you, winter!
Today is March 21, 2013. The first day or Spring was yesterday.
It is snowing.
Screw you, Mother Nature!
We had snow in the Fall. We had snow in the Winter. We have snow in the Spring. Suddenly the old joke about having two season, Winter and July, doesn’t seem so funny.
I WANT SPRING!
Happy first day of Spring to those of you who live in a place where Spring actually arrives.
Me? I’m just taking a break from scraping the inch of ice off the cars.
Can we please, pretty please have Spring back again? Pretty, pretty please?
Is everyone enjoying March 19th so far? It’s the last day of winter and Mother Nature is proving it. Snow. Lots of snow. It’s still falling too. Hooray. Tomorrow is the first day of Spring. We are going to celebrate by shoveling.
All and all this has been a mild winter. The first snow storm actually happened in the Fall, so that doesn’t count. We didn’t really have to deal with any snowy weather until February. While the over all season hasn’t been too bad, February and March have sucked.
March 2013, in like a lion and out like a bigger, angrier lion.
Just yesterday I wrote something about the imminent arrival of Spring. This morning the kids and I went outside to the car and the temperature was a balmy 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Are you freakin’ kidding me?
On Wednesday I mentioned something about my right ear being completely blocked up and therefore just about useless. Yesterday throughout most of the day the situation was much, much better. Then I made the mistake of absent mindedly rubbing my ear a little. Boom, completely blocked again. It’s still totally closed off.
The Bruins beat the last place Panthers last night. They managed to not blow a third period lead. Wonders never cease. Bad third periods are becoming the norm with this team. It’s getting worrisome. They went the whole season last year without losing a game in which they lead after two periods. This year they’ve blown third period leads in embarrassing fashion a whole bunch of times. It has to stop if they plan on contending. Go Bruins.
Spring is so close I can feel it. It’s almost here. It is less than a week away. Next Wednesday, 3/20/13 (or 20/3/13 if you don’t live in the United States. I’m an international kinda guy, ya know?) marks the start of Spring and more importantly, the end of the friggin’ winter. I hate winter. I love Spring.
I am 21 minutes away from starting work for the day and I’m going to be swamped all day. Add that to the impending Spring kick off and it gets me thinking about weekend get aways. We are already hoping to go to Quebec on a long trip, and possibly back to San Diego (I’m getting low on vacation time!) but what about quick, relatively local get aways. That’s what I’m dreaming about this morning.
Places like Lake Winnipesaukee…
Or Bar Harbor…
Or Lake George… okay, that requires more than a weekend, but still…
I do so very much love the Spring time.
