Three Things in One Photo

Three things to note in this picture.

First, the huge van in the driveway is going to move Harry’s furniture up to Vermont a couple of days from now.

Second, the work crew was fixing a storm drain that had turned into the deepest pothole in the known universe. It’s all filled in now, and all of our car tires are thankful.

Third, can you see the house in the distance with the roofers? They tore off the roof, down to the plywood, and replaced the whole thing in one morning. One morning!

Anyone Home?

Every time I look at the bird house and don’t see any signs of life I assume that one of the times I went outside to take out the trash or the recycling or whatever, I scared them away. That would be so depressing.

No signs of life this morning. Sad face.

Patch Rabbit

One year ago today, my beloved wife Jennifer without whom I never would have been able to get through any of the challenges of the past year brought me a cute little stuffed bunny to keep me company on my overnight in the hospital. It was the same color as our cat Patches, and she named it Patch Rabbit.

Patch Rabbit sat with me through the entire month of recovery that followed the surgery, and since then she has been sitting on the window sill next to my desk in the cellar office. I just thought I should include my bunny friend in the anniversary celebration by using her for today’s photo-a-day challenge.

Bird Houses

If you zoom in on this picture you can see some twigs inside of the bird house. It’s awesome.

I have checked on it a couple of times today and I have seen a little sparrow going in and out of the bird house and I love it so much. I don’t imagine I’ll be able to get close enough to see any potential eggs, should the universe dictate that there will be eggs, but I hope I can figure out a way.

Here’s a picture of the other bird house that’s off to the side of our house. If you zoom in on this one you can’t really see anything inside. I can’t tell either way, really, but it looks like this house is still available for rent.

On an unrelated note, here is today’s photo a day selection. It was nice to be able to turn the camera’s ISO setting down from my usual in doors go-to of 3200 to my usual out doors go-to of 100.

Photo a Day

Today’s photo a day photo is both cats, taken with my iPhone.

I took two bites of my lunch at about 1:30 and it set off the foamies. DAMN IT. It’s been an hour and I still can’t eat… and I am hungry, and the chicken patty and french fries look and smell sooo good. I am pissed off at myself right now.

The photo a day post is meant to distract myself from being stupid.

Stupid Robert, failing at eating.

Photo Fun

So the photo a day challenge thing was super easy to do during the Disney World vacation. Now that we’re home I’m finding it tough. I’m still up to date, but we’ve gone from wonderful Disney views to shit like this:

Oh well.

I saw both of my parents today. It was rough. My father has been sick with a cold since leaving the hospital so we haven’t been able to bring him to see my mother. During that time my mother also tested positive for Covid, so it’s been a consistent kick in the scrotum. Today I was able to bring my father to the nursing home to see my mother. It was heartbreaking. My father was desperate to see her, but when we got there she was completely unresponsive. I was able to feed her some of her lunch, and my father held her hand, but she wasn’t really there, if you know what I mean. Over all I think the trip did help my father’s state of mind, a little at least. It was worth it even if it was hard to bare.

To pile on, the kids are gone. Harry drove back to school today. Bellana goes back to school tomorrow, but she is staying at her Dad’s tonight. Sad faces all around. Sure we had them for two full weeks during vacation, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want more time. Greed is good, as Gordon Gecko once said. Did I get that name right? Michael Douglas in Wall Street, right? Whatever.

Further bad news, my vacation is over tomorrow and I have to go back to work. Also, I have an ass load if work that has to be done with a deadline on Tuesday. Yippee! Way to plan that one out, fat boy.

On an unrelated positive note, The Last of Us series will premier on HBO tonight. A new zombie(adjacent?) show, just in time for the end of The Walking Dead. I’m looking forward to having the shit scared out of me.
