A Good Day for Boston

An American won the marathon? Cool!

Now if the Red Sox can pull off this come back, and my doctor can tell me that I don’t have Lyme Disease, this could be a pretty good day all over.

Post script: as I was adding the picture the Red Sox made an awful boneheaded base running play that ended a rally. Let’s hope my doctor gets better results.

Security

It’s a holiday in Massachusetts today so there is no traffic anywhere. I am so ridiculously early that I stopped at rest area on 128 to get a bite for breakfast.

I’m one exit North of the Boston Marathon route. There is a convoy of state police cars here. I can see 11 from this spot, but I think there are more.

Do not eff with my city today. These guys will break you into tiny pieces if you mess with us.

Big Day for Boston Tomorrow

Tomorrow is a big day for the city of Boston and the surrounding communities. Tomorrow is the Boston Marathon. My favorite place to be on Marathon Monday is generally here:

At least early. You go to the Sox game, then head over to Kenmore Square and watch the leaders run through. It’s a fun day even for a non-drinker like me.

After last year, it’s an even bigger deal. No body better be messing with my city.

Moment of Silence

I feel bad.  Boston observed a moment of silence today at 2:50 in honor of all of the victims of the Marathon bombing and their families.  At 2:50 we were parking the car in front of a restaurant and we missed it.  When we got to our table it was 2:53.  I wanted us to be a part of the moment even though were are like 500 miles away.  I feel like I let our city down.

They Got Him

They got him.  It’s been a long day, but they arrested him.

I’m already starting to see jokes about how if you want to escape in a boat it should be in the water, not in watertown.  Har Har.  I wish I’d thought of that.  I could print t-shirts.  Oh well.

I know he will be tried and convicted and put to death under Federal law.  I know.  I don’t like it though.  We’ve seen three innocent people die, one hero of an MIT police officer die in the line of duty, and one scum bag schmuck of a murdering putz die of criminal stupidity.  That’s enough.  I don’t want anyone else to die.  I want him to spend 60 years in prison having what he did pounded into him by his “neighbors”.  Death isn’t punishment for someone like this.  Killing him lets him off the hook.

My sincere thanks to all of the law enforcement people who worked so hard on this.  Hopefully there are no other accomplices   Hopefully they can all kick off their shoes and put up their feet and take a load off.

Good work, people.  Thank you.

Do They Have Him

The news is reporting that the police have surrounded our prick of a fugitive. Looks like he was hiding in a boat in someone’s back yard. Shots have been fired.

Please take him alive. We’ve had too much death.

Manhunt

As usual, all of the news is scattered, and probably inaccurate.  One of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects is dead.  The other is on the run.  They have killed one cop and injured another.  They were throwing explosives at the pursuing officers.

Some reports say that the dead suspect, a 20 year old Russian immigrant who was here legally, may have killed himself or he may have been shot or he may have had a suicide vest and tried to blow himself up or he may have had a bomb on him as a booby trap.

The two suspects are apparently brothers.  They may have been from Chechnya.  They have been living in Cambridge for a while.  Friends and acquaintances are starting to come forward and they are saying these guys were happy, social, normal, popular, American, kids.

Last night I was hoping strongly that the two suspects in the FBI videos were the actual bombers because I did not want innocent people targeted.  Now, from what we’re being told, there isn’t any doubt that they did it.  Why?

As we speak there is a standoff brewing on Willow Street in Watertown.  Armored trucks, cops on megaphones, helicopters.  They might have the guy cornered.  I sincerely hope they take him alive.  Partly because I want answers, but also because there has been enough death.

If you live in Watertown or in any town nearby, just stay home and keep out of the way.  Stay safe.

What the Hell?

I thought the situation was a confused mess before.

A store robbery, a dead MIT cop, a car jacking, a shot transit cop, a shootout in Watertown, a locked down neighborhood, a dead suspect, explosive devices thrown at cops.

All while we slept snug in our beds about 30 miles to the North.

Lets hope the police can get the other guy before he hurts anyone else.

Damn It

I thought having two sources stating an arrest was made would be enough. I thought my butt was covered.

Wrong.
