Not John Mayall, no!
CNN Reports: Influential Blues musician John Mayall has died at 90.
That just sucks.
He gave us Eric Clapton, he gave us Peter Green, he gave us Mick Taylor, but most importantly he gave us John Mayall. What a colossal career. Rest in Peace, Sir.
Today is John Mayall’s 90th birthday. As a guitar player, I owe this guy so much. First he hired Eric Clapton, then he hired Peter Green, then he hired Mick Taylor. I mean… he is the king of all band leaders.
90 years young, and many happy returns.
This came across my Facebook today. A bit of a deep dive into john Mayall’s Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton album, aka Beano.
…and the entire concept of tone chasing was born.
