Snow

Yesterday, with the help of a neighbor who is a hero, I cleaned off the driveway. I also dug a path to the trash barrels on the side of the house and cleared a path from the street to the fire hydrant. I didn’t clean off the cars. Today I cleaned off the cars.

I hate snow and there was a lot of it. I guess that means there was a lot to hate.

In lieu of flowers, send money to the Red Cross and any Ukrainian charities you can think of.

Shoveled

The driveway has been shoveled.
The walkway around the side of the house has been shoveled.
The fire hydrant has been shoveled.
The street has been shoveled.

(pause for dramatic effect)

You read that correctly. This is not a complaint, just a comment. The plows did a very good job on most of my street. Unfortunately there was a five or six foot stretch of unplowed road between the end of my driveway and the snow bank.

Some winters they do an extra good job widening the road. Some winters they don’t. This is one where they don’t. Again, not complaining. Just observing. I am very thankful for the work they do. If I need to drive somewhere today, I will be able to. That’s what matters.

I effing hate winter though. I just freakin’ loathe it.

I now have 61 minutes until I need to punch in to work. I think I’ll shower for about 57 of them. Wish me luck!

3.67 Years

It was April 27, 2012. That was my last full day in San Diego, CA. Three years and slightly less than eight months. That is way too long. I’ve been there three times. On my honeymoon in June of 2009, then with the kids in August of 2011, then with the kids and Jen’s folks in April of 2012. We haven’t been back since. No wonder it feels like it’s been an eternity since last I dipped my toes into the Pacific… it has been an eternity!

See the dude with the guitar? Just make him a lot taller, a lot heavier, give him a mop of glow in the dark red hair, and give him a much, much cooler guitar. That is what I’ll look like when I’m living on the beach, busking for change, and playing music to the largest swimming pool on the Earth.

Make it so!

A New World Record

Remember last week when I posted a picture of the timer on my car’s dashboard and said I set a new record for longest Methuen to Westwood morning commute? I think it was two hours and 12 minutes, but it might have been 2:15. Something like that at least.

I smashed that record today. I didn’t have the timer running so I don’t have a picture, but I left the house at 7:30 and got to work at 9:49.

Two hours and 19 minutes.

2:19.

Oh happy world record setting day.

Winter sucks. Mightily.

The Blizzard of 2015

I poked my head out of the front and back doors at about 7:45 this morning. I figured I’d snap a few pics in the morning, and then a few in the afternoon, and then a few before bed so that we can all have fun (sarcasm) comparing the size of the drifts and such.

Out the front of the house we see this freshly fallen frozen hell.

I didn’t actually go outside. For this pic I had to lean around the open door. Hence the tilt. I’ll try harder next time.

Out of the back door, the first two don’t have any frame of reference. They are just nice wintery pics.

The gas grill gives us a little perspective on the whole awful mess.

More pictures this afternoon. Assuming we don’t lose power.

Winter Sucks

So, after the nice people who went door to door offering to shovel driveways left (with their small fee and a tip) a kind hearted plow driver deposited that load of crap at the end of our driveway.

I do so freakin’ hate winter.

Funny, I’ve never tried taking a picture through a screen door using my iPhone. It sort of freaked out on me. Oh well, you get the point.
