Four Years Ago

We didn’t know it until a few days later, but on this date four years ago we lost Neil Peart. Easily the most painful moment of my musical life. He had such an impact on me. I’m sure if I ever told him that it would embarrass the hell out of him, so I would never have said anything even if I had the chance… but it’s true. It’s silly that some clown in a rock band that I never met could have such a huge effect on who I grew up to be… but it’s true. You know? It’s true.

Rich Peverley

Here is a mighty tip of the cap to the medical staff in Dallas who were able to restart Rich Peverley’s heart last night.  NHL fans everywhere thank you for a job well done.

It was another one of those “hockey players are the toughest athletes” moments when Peverley (who was a member of the cup winning Bruins team in 2011 and therefore will never pay for a drink in Boston again) regained consciousness and asked how much time was left in the first period.  After the incedent his teammates were really shaken up and were unwilling to finish the game (rightfully so).  Peverley?  He wanted to go back onto the ice rather than go to the hospital.
