Good News and Bad News

I feel like I’ve been doing this a lot recently. Sharing some information on the ol’ bloggie page without giving any details at all.

I am going to do it again… twice.

I had something on my schedule at work for tomorrow. It happened today instead and it went well. It was good news. It made me a little bit happy. It also took some pressure off of my schedule for tomorrow. Good stuff, indeed.

Then I got some really bad news. I am not sharing specifics, partly because I don’t have any specifics to share. Suffice to say things went down outside of work and outside of my home that are really scary and awful and oh shit I really hope they are not accurate. Bad news that has the potential to become terrible really bad news.

So… yeah… I am the very definition of mixed feelings right now. I don’t know whether I’m coming or going or what.

Happy Tuesday, ya’ll.

Happy Valentines Day

I am in the office today and Jen is working from home. I was able to wish her a Happy Valentines Day before I left the house though, so that makes me happy.

Yes I know that Valentines Day is a hallmark holiday and not a real thing, but I was alone for so very long before I met Jen that I never got to celebrate and I just want to make up for lost time.

We used to do anti-valentines celebrations. A bunch of friends would get together and go bowling and eat pizza and make fun of the happy couples. Now I am in one of those couples and I do so love every second of it. Make fun of me all you want, being with Jen is totally worth it.

Happy Valentines Day, Jen. I love you with all my heart. Smooch.

Monday Lunch Break

No spoilers here, but I think the one thing Marvel’s Hawkeye has taught us is that the universe needs a Kate/Yelena buddy cop show. There is supposed to be an Echo show coming and that could be a sort of Hawkeye spin off and if we don’t get a Kate/Yelena team up then we’re going to absolutely need a show of their own. Come on, Marvel/Disney+, let’s make that happen.

While we’re on the Marvel TV subject, let’s get going on Daredevil season 4, m’kay? Bring the whole gang back. They’ll have to tone down the blood for Disney+ viewers, but they can totally do it. Get it done.

While we’re on the Disney+ subject, The Book of Boba Fett launches in two days. I need this show to be amazing. I need it. I am not one of those Star Wars fans who think Boba Fett is the balls or anything. In three movies (from the point of view of the special editions) he’s on screen for a grand total of, what? 10 minutes? How many lines did he have? Was it more than two? There’s the “he’s worth a lot to me” line and the “put captain Solo in the cargo hold” and that’s all I can think of off the top of my head. He gets more in Attack of the Clones and in the The Clone Wars TV show (and Rebels too? I can’t remember, was he in Rebels? I don’t think so), but that’s him as a kid and not the ass kicking bounty hunter he’s supposed to be. He had a good showing in season two of The Mandalorian, but I need the new show to live up to the character’s hype and I don’t know if that is actually possible without bending the laws of physics.

What else is going on?

NASA gave us a gigantic Christmas Present with the launch of the James Webb telescope. I haven’t read up on any of the details yet, but I hear everything went well. I remember the launch of the Hubble though, and I remember those blurry photos. I won’t relax about Webb until we start seeing results. Hubble was in Earth orbit and we could send folks up to fix it. Webb will not be reachable by humans. It has to work on the first try. I’ll read up on the news when I get a chance, but I’m hoping we’ll keep getting good news.

The kids are still at their dad’s. They will come back here on Wednesday and then be here through the weekend, including New Years Eve and New Years Day. I cannot understate how happy that makes me.

Right then, it’s 2:00pm and I have to get back to work. Have a good afternoon, my readers and only friends.

9:41 PM

Jen just asked me for the time. 9:41PM. I’m at my desk in the bedroom working on something on my computer (and writing a post about it). Jen has already gone to bed, but she’s still awake and baby talking to the cat. It’s pretty freakin’ adorable.

The Bruins lost to Florida. It was a nightmare of a day at work today. I did manage to close all three of my exercise rings but I am super wired from the zany day and just patiently wait to crash. The cat is now laying down on my side of the bed. She may have actually fallen asleep there.

New furnace folks are coming tomorrow. I have meetings in the morning. How much do you want to bet they don’t show up until I am in the middle of a meeting.

All in all it was a pretty crappy day, but Jen is being hysterically funny right now and the cat is being hysterically funny (she just whacked herself in the face with her own tail and got really pissed off). Like i said… it’s a really fantastic day.

My Step Son is the Best Person on Earth

My step son is literally the best person on Earth. Holy crap is he amazing!

Just as I was about to start my lunch break he called me. He asked if I was busy and I said no. He asked if I could come out to my car. What? Sure! I went outside and there he was. He brought lunch for both of us. Five Guys, to be exact. Can you believe that? Can you believe how amazing that was?

I love my step son so much I just don’t have the words. That was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. Ever. I am so happy. I honestly think I might cry.

Two Things

There were two big things going on in the extended family today. One was centered around my parents house. That doesn’t seem to have gone as well as I had hoped, but it was still all right. It wasn’t a slam dunk BOOM everything works out, but it was another step in the right direction. I’m just too impatient now to be happy about it.

The other thing was centered around my house, though it had nothing to do with Lake Asshole, and that seems to have gone much better. It isn’t the perfect solution, but all the boxes are checked and everyone seems happy so I am happy.

Now back to impatiently waiting for my parents thing to resolve… waiting… and waiting… and getting closer and closer to the inevitable nervous breakdown.

Urgh.

Home

Bellana is all moved in. Her dad is bringing a few things up next weekend, but for now she’s there and most of her stuff is there and her roommates are there and everything is good. She has a new apartment, now she needs to transform it into a home.

Jen and I left Burlington around 4:00pm, maybe more like 5:00? I’m not sure. We chose to take the scenic route home which somehow led us to NH route 9 which is so winding that I’m sure we drove in a spiral at least twice, and it’s so badly lit (just some reflectors on one side and some reflective yellow paint) that I’m positive we were underground for at least 15 of the 40 miles.

We are home now. We are exhausted, proud, excited to see what comes next, but still a smidge sad.

Congratulations, Bellana.

Now it’s time to shift our focus to Harry who is graduating from high school in less than two weeks. I’m so proud I might pop like an over-proud balloon!
