Happy Bonus Day

My company gives an annual bonus when they can and today is the day for this year. Happy Happy Bonus Day, co-workers!

That’s one way to make Monday a little more palatable. I had one of those internal calendar confusion moments last night. Jen and I were in the living room watching a Bravo show about ladies screaming a lot. I was doing a little Twitter doom scroll and I saw something about the cold open from Saturday Night Live. Wait, I thought. It’s only like 8:00pm… why is someone sharing the open from SNL if it doesn’t happen for another few hours? Pause while my brain struggles with math. Shit, because today is Sunday, not Saturday. Shit. I have to work tomorrow.

12 hours later, here we are.

I have a lot of meetings today but they should be okay. Hopefully it will be a quiet yet productive day. May your days be productive and quiet as well. It’s Monday, folks. Let’s all duck and cover and get through it together.

Happiest Business Day of the Year

Today is hands down the happiest non-holiday business day of the year for those of us working for the company I work for.

Today is annual bonus day! Along with our W2 and our profit sharing trust documents for the previous year we get a nice bonus. It’s nice enough that, when added to my annual salary, it makes my income less laughable! WOOHOO

How did I celebrate bonus day? By changing the cat’s litter box! WOO(cough)HOO!

Bonus Day

Today is one of the happiest days of the year for the 2-3 thousand folks who work for the same company as I.  Today is Bonus Day.

We are always told that the bonus is not guaranteed, but I don’t think there has ever been a year when they did not give out the bonus.  Our salaries are pretty low compared to other software companies, but the bonus that we get on the last business day of January is sizable enough to let us almost approach income respectability.  Almost.

I’m working from home today so I won’t be getting my year end bonus packet (the check stub is given out in the same packet our tax information comes in) until tomorrow. I checked my bank account though and the amount deposited this morning was nice.  Very nice.  I’m happy.

Now it’s time to start planning those vacations!  WOOHOO
