An Exercise First

I always talk about trying to close the exercise ring on my AppleWatch. I’m sure I’m annoying AF. I usually just walk in place for a few minutes at a time over the course of a day until I get up to 30 minutes.

Today I did something I’ve only done a couple of times since the start of the pandemic when the whole walking in place became a thing.

I did all 30 minutes in one go. It was the walk in place equivalent of 2.2 miles, which is quite a bit slower pace than I was doing back in late 2020, but I’ll take it.

I need to start using the exercise bike instead of walking in place, but for today I’ll take it. I’m kinda pleased with myself.

It’s Been a Few Weeks

Last week I failed to close my exercise ring on Saturday.

The week before last I failed to close my exercise ring on Wednesday.

This week we are back on track.

Next week will have a major surgery and an overnight hospital stay so… yeah. Don’t hold your breath.

Three days remain…. Oh the pain.

One Final Note on the All Nighter

One thing I forgot to mention when I wrote about yesterday’s all nighter.

There will be no perfect week for exercise from my AppleWatch Activity App. I did not do my exercise. The move ring was closed, probably because I stressed out so much I burned tons of calories by just sitting still. The stand ring closed too. That was a given. I had 12 hours with at least one minute standing by 11:01am.

No exercise ring though. I thought about doing my 30 minutes of marching in place in the ER room as soon as I got there so that I could have it all done right away. I didn’t though. I wasn’t sure how long we were going to be there and the thought of doing something physical to tire myself out that late at night when I still might have had to drive her home before going home myself just seemed like a bad move. When I got home I told Jen I was still planning on doing it, but she thought it was a bad idea. I did too, I just didn’t want to admit it. In the end I skipped the day.

The good news, I’ve already closed the 30 minute ring today. We’re back on track already.

19 More Minutes

After stress-filled work followed by stress-filled* hospital visit followed by stress-filled start to putting the kitchen and dining room back together, I have only managed 11 minutes of exercise today.

My back is killing me and I don’t know how I’m going to finish before I keel over…

…but I’ll get it done. Somehow. Bet on it.

*The hospital trip wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been. I got there at 1:00pm and she was discharged by 3:00. Most of the time in between she was snoozing. My sister and brother both had a rough time on their days and my day was easy in comparison. It’s not fair, but I do appreciate what they did. Always.
