Cars, Bruins, and Stuff

When we got the blue car inspected a couple of weeks ago we were told that there was something wrong with the right front wheel. My paranoia has grown steadily to the point where I am fearful that the whole wheel is going to snap right off.

Tonight I, with help from my father, dropped the car off at the shop. That meant that I had to drive home from work, then to the shop, then to my father’s house to drop him off, then drive my father’s car home. I didn’t get to see the kids much. I didn’t get to have dinner with them. I am very sad about that. I think that might be the first time that’s happened since I first started spending time with them.

I did, however, get to listen to most of the first period of the Bruins game. Marchant (sp?) and Bergeron had short handed goals. Wheeler finally scored. It was beautiful.

Now that I am home and the kids have gone to bed, thus the Disney Channel has been turned off, I can watch the rest of the game. Sadly, Tim Thomas gave up a goal.

Boo. Hoo.

Thomas (aka “The Man”) has now seen his shut out streak end. Now he’s given up four goals in seven games. Wow. The bubble has burst, eh?

We should have elected him King on Tuesday because he is, in fact, the King.

4-1 Bruins after two periods. Keep up the pressure. I want this to be at least a seven goal margin of victory when all is said and done.

Go Bruins!

Likes and Dislikes

Here is something I like:

I like it when I vote for a bunch of people and they all win. I like it when the candidate I voted for in the Massachusetts Governor’s race becomes (or in the is case remains) the Governor of Massachusetts. The same with the candidates I voted for in the race for US House of Representatives, and the Massachusetts House and Senate. I like it when my candidates win. I like it even more when none of the people I voted for lost. I especially like it when a huge chunk of the country decides to throw up their hands and give up after a whopping two years and regresses to voting Republican, while my progressive state goes firmly Democrat. That makes me happy. Congratulations Governor Patrick. Congratulations Congresswoman Tsongas.

Here are a couple of things I don’t like:

I don’t like the US House of Representatives being under Republican control.

I don’t like the fact that yesterday I searched for tips on the best times to see deer wandering around in my back yard and all of the hits, and I do mean all of them, were tips on the best time to kill deer. Doesn’t anyone just look? I guess not.

I don’t like that random day that comes out of nowhere when everyone on the road during my morning commute drives like a friggin 150 year old invalid who is suffering from a nasty bout of idiocy. I especially didn’t like the 150 year old invalid suffering from a bout of idiocy who drove for about 3 miles with his left friggin blinker on. (in the spirit of yesterday’s election I will translate that statement from New England English to the rest of the country’s version of English: Blinker = Turn Signal. You’re welcome)

I most definitely do not like the fact that there was a thick coat of ice on my car windows this morning. I think I dislike that more than any of the other entries on today’s dislike list so far.

I most definitely do not like that my wife left for work at 7:00am today and I won’t get home until around 7:00pm and that adds up to 12 whole hours where I do not get to see her at all. That, in a word, sucks.

Here is one more thing I like:

I like that tonight is a kid night. When I get home to my new house I will not only see my loving, lovely wife but I will also see my step kids. That is something I like very, very much.

Election Night Fun

How are we spending this happy election night at our house?

Jenny is playing Warcraft and Robbie is watching the Sharks play the Wild.

I just went to Boston.com and they are showing returned percentages for the Governor’s race. With 0% reporting, Deval Patrick has 48% over Charlie Baker’s 45%.

Happy Election Night, Everyone!

Go Sharks!

Critters and Stuff

On Halloween one of our new neighbors introduced himself. He mentioned that he has, on a couple of occasions, seen deer coming out of the woods behind our house.

Awesome!

This morning I was outside taking out the trash and I heard some leaves rustling out in the woods. I saw a few branches swaying despite the lack of breeze. I looked around to see if I could see whatever it was that was walking around out there, but I couldn’t see anything.

Now I have to do some research into deer behavior because Robbie seriously wants to see these deer. Robbie’s camera also wants to see these deer and photographically document their existence.

So, changing the subject, as previously posted I managed to vote this morning. I was pretty surprised by the turnout. It is a mid-term election and those are usually pretty dead, but I got to the poles about 30 minutes after they opened and I was the 77th ballot in my district. That’s hardly a massive turnout, but it is pretty good. I commented on it and the women at the check out desk were both pretty pleased.

Changing the subject again, the Giants won the world series last night. Good for them. Another ridiculously long world series drought comes to an end. We still have Cleveland though… and the Cubs. The Cubby’s world series wait is up to something like 450 years now, isn’t it? Sportsily speaking, the one thing I am happiest about in all of the professional sports silliness that I get so wrapped up in, is that the Red Sox won a championship before the Cubs did. If the Cubs broke their curse first it would have been more painful than you could possibly imagine. Anyway, congratulations Giants, and hey Rangers… thanks for nothing. You suck. (except for that whole beating the Yankees thing. You are still super awesome in my book for that one. Thanks!)

Vote Kitty

I bet Deval Patrick loves kitties. I bet Nikki Tsongas and Barney Frank love kitties.

I bet Charlie Baker, Tim Cahill, and that guy who is running against Barney Frank don’t like kitties much, if at all.

If you love kitties, your choices at the poles tomorrow should be clear.

You do love kitties, don’t you?
