Intentional

I shut off the Bruins game when the Canadiens went up 3-0. About 10 minutes later I turned it back on, and then shut it off for good when they went up 4-0.

I didn’t see the Zdeno Chara hit on Max Pacioretty until just now. I heard them talking about it on the radio this morning as if it were just a normal hit that happened in an unfortunate place on the ice.

I disagree.

This was the most blatant attempt to injure I’ve seen in a long time. Chara basically throws the guy into the partition, head first. It’s terrible. Chara not only deserves to be suspended, but he deserves a long suspension. This from a guy who bleeds black and gold.

See for yourself…

Monday

I have no actual news. I reported it all yesterday. This is a weird feeling.

I did slice off a little chunk of the ring finger on my left hand last night while doing a poor job opening a can of cat food that the cat didn’t eat. She is really fussy with food lately. Yesterday I gave her everything a house cat could ever want: Fresh canned food. A bowl full of dry food. Fresh water. Fresh litter. A few extra treats left with the rest of her food.

Nothing. She more or less ignored all of it. I saw her nibble on the dry food once, but that was it.

I had thought about getting up at 5:00 today and finishing some guitar recording, but with a band aid on a finger on my left hand I figured it would be a waste. Stupid cat food can.

We are hopeful that we’ll be able to go to the hospital for a visit tonight. Jen seemed pretty close to 100% last night, but she was sniffling this morning. It’s tough to tell if that’s related or not because both of us sniffle almost every morning. Is it allergies? Is it the bed? Is it the detergent we use to wash the sheets? Who knows. If she’s feeling all right this afternoon then we’ll try and pay my mother a visit. If she’s not, we’ll try another day. As my father told me yesterday, if you’re not feeling well just stay away. Not just for Mom’s sake, but for the sake of every patient on the ward. I feel bad that I haven’t seem my mother in a week, but it makes it a lot easier when the rest of the family is so understanding. Thanks.

Sunday

Maybe I’m getting lucky… Jen is on day 8 of her flu bug. Yesterday I was pretty sure I was getting it, but I got better as the day went on and now I feel fine. The flu is probably teasing me.

Jen is going to fight through her illness and make corned beef and cabbage today. More proof of her amazingness.

I Get It!

We are watching Spaceballs. Possibly the greatest movie in the history of human cinema. Possibly the greatest artistic achievement in all of the history of mankind.

We watched this movie once before, maybe about a year or so ago. Maybe a bit longer than that.

My step son keeps laughing and saying, “I get it!” to almost all of the jokes.

I hate yogurt, even with strawberries!
I get it!

Comb the desert!
I get it!

This is so much fun.

Ah, Saturday

Piano, karate, food shopping, straightening up the place, book stores, craft stores for school project supplies, cat food, kitty litter, fighting off the flu, sitting in front of the fire, Bruins, being a family, and always worrying about how my mother is doing.

I did not get a single update yesterday. I did order some prints of grand kid pictures that my sister will bring to her. Jen’s flu isn’t going down without a fight. She’s still sick.

Hopefully in a few days I’ll be able to share some good news she will be getting from work. I’m very proud of my wife and I may be gloating a little bit soon.

If Mom is still on schedule, chemo starts today. I’ve said that before, of course, but hopefully today it actually happens, and hopefully she handles it well.

Fingers crossed.
