It’s Cold Out

Just yesterday I wrote something about the imminent arrival of Spring.  This morning the kids and I went outside to the car and the temperature was a balmy 20 degrees Fahrenheit.  Are you freakin’ kidding me?

On Wednesday I mentioned something about my right ear being completely blocked up and therefore just about useless.  Yesterday throughout most of the day the situation was much, much better.  Then I made the mistake of absent mindedly rubbing my ear a little.  Boom, completely blocked again.  It’s still totally closed off.

The Bruins beat the last place Panthers last night.  They managed to not blow a third period lead.  Wonders never cease.  Bad third periods are becoming the norm with this team.  It’s getting worrisome.  They went the whole season last year without losing a game in which they lead after two periods.  This year they’ve blown third period leads in embarrassing fashion a whole bunch of times.  It has to stop if they plan on contending.  Go Bruins.

Consolidation

I consolidated every GarageBand file I’ve ever created onto one machine tonight. Some came from my iPad 2, others from my New iPad, a few from my iPhone, many from my Mac mini, and many more from my MacBook Pro. My MacBook Pro now contains a folder for finished songs, including sub folders for the last two RPMs, a folder for songs I would like to finish within the next month or so, and a folder for song ideas that I don’t know what to do with. I was especially looking for two ancient songs that I know I have unfinished recordings of somewhere, but after coming up empty across all of my various Apple devices, I think I know where they are. On SVHS tapes in ADAT format. Yup, definitely going to start those over again. My 8-track days are over.

I am king nerd. Bow before my uber nerdliness.

Passport

The next time I have to fill out a form that requires identification, in the section that says I can either produce two picture IDs or a valid US Passport, I won’t have to fork over two picture IDs.

I just received a package from the US Department of State.

Hey Jen and the kids, wanna leave the country?

Almost Here

Spring is so close I can feel it.  It’s almost here.  It is less than a week away.  Next Wednesday, 3/20/13 (or 20/3/13 if you don’t live in the United States.  I’m an international kinda guy, ya know?) marks the start of Spring and more importantly, the end of the friggin’ winter.  I hate winter.  I love Spring.

I am 21 minutes away from starting work for the day and I’m going to be swamped all day.  Add that to the impending Spring kick off and it gets me thinking about weekend get aways.  We are already hoping to go to Quebec on a long trip, and possibly back to San Diego (I’m getting low on vacation time!) but what about quick, relatively local get aways.  That’s what I’m dreaming about this morning.

Or Bar Harbor…

Or Lake George… okay, that requires more than a weekend, but still…

I do so very much love the Spring time.

Richard Thompson on Letterman

“Good Things Happen to Bad People”

I haven’t watched the David Letterman show in quite a while.  Does this mean Paul and the band are no longer required to play along with the musical guests or is Richard Thompson just awesome enough to allow the rules to be bent?

Four Random Thoughts

Here are four random thoughts buzzing around my pea brain at the moment.

First, continuing the Bad Sports Day for Boston from the previous post, Bruin Chris Kelly has a broken leg and is out indefinitely.

Second, My Kingdom for an DVI to HDMI adapter!  I discovered recently that most of the songs I want to record this month have already reached a near complete status that I have completely forgotten about reaching.  Unfortunately the .band files are all on the MacMini and I can’t find the cables we used to use to hook it up to the monitor, so I can’t get the files off of it!  Lunch break tomorrow includes a trip to radio shack.

Third, we learned a new downside of living on the edge of wild kingdom.  Just after we finished dinner tonight our neighborhood was engulfed in the stench of skunk.  Ah crud.

Fourth, my right ear is so completely blocked with wax right now that I am effectively deaf on that side.  This happens to me once every couple of years or so.  Where the hell did I leave that bottle of wax softener?

My wish to all of you, from your humble narrator, is that tomorrow is a better day than today was.  ‘Cause today was kind of a suck fest.

Bad Day for Boston Sports

It’s been a crummy day for Boston sports.  First, the Bruins blew a 2-0 lead over the Penguins last night, all in the late minutes of the third period, and lost 3-2.

Today, the Patriots lose Wes Welker to the Denver Broncos.

And to top it off, I now learn that Terry Francona, ex Red Sox manager, has made a Harlem Shake video with the Cleveland Indians.

Will the pain never end?

Bank Robberies Addendum

Just one more thing to add about the Bank Robberies in Methuen.  Douglas Moser of the Lawrence Eagle Tribune tweeted out a Google Map with the locations and a brief description of the circumstances of each of the four bank robberies.  I thought I’d post is as a handy little summary.

Here it is.
