Almost Time Again

It’s almost time again. Time for another Rush concert. We missed the last one, and left the one before that early. Hopefully nothing will stand in the way of us seeing the full show this time. It’s all the way in Connecticut, so hopefully we’ll be free of distractions being so far from home.

Expect the level of Robbie’s excitement to build steadily over the coming week.

Bald Eagle? Maybe?

I posted pics of a bunch of birds we saw in Virginia. Most of them seem to be vultures. This one, however… is this a bald eagle?

If only I’d had my Nikon 55-200 mm F/4 5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR Zoom lens on instead of my Nikkor AF-S DX 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VR. (he said as if he knew what he was talking about) I would have been able to get closer to this bird and maybe had an easier time figuring out what it was.

Stop Motion Vacation

During the times when I wasn’t driving during our long drives to and from Virginia I did some goofing around with the stop motion cafe app on my phone. If I had a way to stand the phone up on the dashboard I would have filmed one of these covering the whole trip. As it is, it took one picture every five seconds, and then the play back is 12 pictures per second.

Vacation Question

I have a question about vacations.

Is it possible that the horror of the first day of work following a week long vacation actually outweigh the benefits of the week long vacation? As I try to get myself ready for work this morning, I’m not anymore rested because of my week off. I actually feel more exhausted than before we left. Today I’m going to have a full week’s worth of problems dropped on me at once. I’m going to have five times the stress and frustration of a normal day. Is it worth it? If I’d asked this one week ago I would have said yes, it is worth it. Today? I’m not so sure.

Virginia Safari Park

We went to the Virginia Safari Park a couple of days ago. Think of it as a drive through petting zoo.

I fed llamas. Have you ever fed a llama? I didn’t think so. I win.

Llama are intelligent animals. This dude’s mission was to block the road so we couldn’t drive off without feeding all of his buddies.

Llama are also skilled at swarm attacks.

Have you ever been close enough to a bison that you could grab his horn? Yeah, I have. Guess I win again. Although you will notice that my window is rolled up and all of me is safely within the car where the huge bison can’t get me.
