iPhone 14 Users

My phone is an iPhone 14 Pro Max. I didn’t upgrade to a 15 last year. I used to always skip a generation, then there were a few years where I did not, now I am trying to get back into the every-other-iteration way of thinking. When the next iPhone is released I will probably upgrade. Not because I necessarily want to (though I absolutely do) but because my trusty ol’ two-year-old is starting to get weird on me.

Are there any other 14 users still out there? Are they experiencing weirdness too? That’s a rhetorical question. I’m not expecting a discussion here, I’m just an old man yelling at clouds, so to speak.

It’s not so much weirdness as slowness. Everything, both native and 3rd party applications, just seem to need a little more time to do what they gotta do. Launch? Crunch some data? Open a photo? Play an audio or video file? It just seems to take a little longer than it used to. In some cases it takes a few full seconds more than it used to.

I wonder… is this some planned obsolescence program kicking in? Is Apple trying to convince me to upgrade this cycle by hamstringing my system over here? It’s possible. I don’t think it’s likely- (I mean it’s a 14 not a 4, right?) but it could be.

Not that I need any arm twisting or anything. I do want a new phone and it will probably just be a few months until the 16’s hit the market. I just wonder.

Anyway, I took today’s photo a day challenge pic before I left the cellar this morning. Yeah, it’s another guitar pic. What are you gonna do about it?

Good Morning

It’s always a good morning when you play the guitar before work.

Three more 50/90 challenge songs have lead guitars down and are now ready to be mixed and put into the finished songs bucket. Good morning, indeed.

Sunday Guitar

I think today’s band practice is going to be cancelled. I think we need to start planning on a different day and time.

In place of band practice I have done a ton of work on 50/90. Well… maybe not a ton, but a really good morning’s worth. I have added tracks to six songs. There might be time for more too. We’ll have to see.

Additional good news. Whatever was wrong with my stomach yesterday has cleared up. I knew it would, it just took most of the day. Here’s hoping it doesn’t come back for a while. A long while.

For now though, here are the obligatory guitar pics from this morning’s goofiness.

Car Music and Other Weirdness

I woke up with a weird stomach today. I was able to eat breakfast, but drinking water has been… odd… which is… odd. Something I ate yesterday is unhappy today. I am willing to bet it was the gross/amazing Chili’s kids meal pizza. That’s a pretty safe bet, I think.

It didn’t stop me from doing a great big honkin’ car music today though. I took the five songs worth of lyrics and melodies I worked on yesterday and sang them all while sitting in the empty(ish) mall parking lot. Excellent. Now I have to figure out if there will be any time for any more music today. Not likely. I have to help my father with something and do the food shopping and possibly go on a home office shopping trip today. We’ll see what comes along.

First pointless photo is my car music view:

The second pointless photo is the clock downtown as I drove past it on the way home:

And now, completely unrelated to everything else… Cats!

Out to Dinner

We went out to dinner last night. I can’t remember the name of the place. The Phoenician in Haverhill, MA? I think that’s right.

It was really good. We had a nice meet up with one of Jen’s coworkers and her wife. It was really nice to be out and social. We don’t do that often anymore in this weird post-covid world. The food was delicious, the conversation was fun. It was really nice. We should do it more often. Maybe at The Border Cafe in Burlington, MA? Who knows.

I took a picture of a neighbor’s house from the parking lot because I liked the eaves and the chimney. I should take the camera out this weekend and do some wanderin’ and some shottin’. I say it every weekend. One of these days I’ll do it.

Pain

I don’t know what I did to earn it, but oh my goodness the pain.

Yesterday, out of the blue, I got a massive pain in my left side. It included my left arm, particularly the elbow. What the hell? All the left here made me think heart attack at first, but it’s really nowhere near my heart. I think I must have pulled a muscle or something. Any time I reach out or up with my left arm it sets it off and BOOM, huge pain. What the hell, bro? I didn’t do anything to hurt myself. I must have zigged when I should have zagged, but it wasn’t enough for me to actually notice that something was going wrong.

Ouch town, population… me.

So I plan to try to force myself to not extend my left arm very much for a day or two and see if it gets better. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to not extend your left arm? I keep doing it and it keeps hurting. What a jerk. What a doofus.

Fortunately though, it did not stop me from doing my morning exercise and, more importantly, it did not stop me from playing the guitar, babie! I had enough time to work on three songs today. As I mentioned in a recent post, I swapped out my ES-335 for my SG. The SG has been neglected of late. I bought a new strap for each guitar months and months ago and I never even opened the SG’s case to put it on. Even after playing for about an hour this morning I still haven’t used the new strap. Soon though. You’ll see.

My playing was garbage, of course, but I don’t care. Happy Friday, folks!
