First Night Home

My mother went home from the hospital yesterday and last night may have been the worst night of the whole ordeal. The infection has her so scrambled that she didn’t believe she was home. She thought we were lying to her. My sister spent the night at my parents house and filled us all in this morning. It was bad.

Please please please let the antibiotics she’s on now clear this up. This is awful.

Another Long Day

Today was another long day. My mother is still in the hospital and she’s still not handling it well, but she was much better than yesterday. They are trying to figure out her back pain. They found the UTI that was the source of most of her current problems. The also found bursitis in her hip. She had an MRI on her back tonight. No word on the results yet.

Still no word on when she can leave. We were hoping for today but no dice. At least one more day.

Sleep

Tuesday night’s sleep was kinda awful. My sleep watch app said that I was in “restful sleep” for only half of the time. When I woke up it was like I hadn’t slept at all. It was a bad night.

Last night I went to bed early and then broke one of my quarantine rules.

The rule is, every work day I will be out of bed, showered, and ready to start my work day at the same time I would need to be ready if I had to make the long drive to the office. The goal started out at 7:30. It’s kind of floated up to 7:40 more recently. Today, I was asleep until almost 7:00. Way, way later than normal. Sleep watch said I was asleep for 8:20, and in restful sleep for six hours.

Over eight hours of sleep. It’s amazing. I didn’t think that was possible here in the 21st century. The water tank on my CPAP machine was full when I went to sleep and it was almost bone dry when I woke up. That’s a lot of CPAP run time!

All day yesterday I felt run down and beat up and a little sick. Today I feel a ton better, but my nose is still a little stuffy. It doesn’t feel like allergies. It also doesn’t fit any of the COVID-19 symptoms, so don’t even go there. I think a little bad sleep left me open to a little spring head cold.

Yippee.

Early to bed again tonight? I hope so. It’s helping so far.

Gross CPAP Moment… I Think

When I woke up this morning I had a “did that happen?” moment. It had to do with my CPAP machine.

I’ve been using the machine for about a year now. When I first started I felt like I was remembering dreams more than I ever had before. Maybe once a week or so I would remember a dream after I woke up. After a couple of months that stopped.

This morning when I woke up I remembered something happening during the night, but I couldn’t figure out if it actually happened or if it was a dream.

What was it that I remembered?

I sneezed.

Into my CPAP mask.

Eewwww.

But did it happen? I couldn’t tell. If it did happen it was a first for me. There have been a couple of times when I sneezed but just managed to get the mask off in time. In this case I must have woke up, sneezed, and immediately fell back to sleep. Either that or it was a dream.

I woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head, and then checked the mask.

Oh yeah… it was not a dream.

I slept with a mask covered in sneeze snot.

GROSS.
