Notes From Today’s Yard Work

I put my phone down for a few minutes. When I picked it up it was covered with pollen. The pollen is so thick out there that you can actually see it blowing in the breeze.

I may possibly have discovered two new species of spiders. Little tiny guys, but still big enough that you can see their pincers moving around. Yup. Suddenly I’m okay with garter snakes in the yard. Dinner is served, you snaky pricks.

I’ve said this before, but if mosquitoes ever learn to hunt in packs we are fucked. There are so many of them out there right now that if they coordinated their efforts instead of just flying around at random, I would not have made it back inside. Just saying. We have to keep an eye on those bastards and keep them in their place in the food chain.

Vacation Day

What did I do on my rare Wednesday day off?

Back lawn: mowed.

Side yard: mowed.

Front yard: mowed.

Bird feeders: full.

Christmas lights: removed.

Back gutter drain: fixed (sort of).

Patio: raked and swept.

Patio furniture (including the carpet): arranged.

Happy #GibSunday

Yeah, I play the goofy hashtag games too.

Spent some time with the new SG and GarageBand for iPad and AmpliTube for iPad with a bunch of simulated Fender Tweed amps. Good times, good times. Now we are going to have a family night because it is a holiday weekend and it’s awesome.

Portsmouth

We were supposed to go see Solo: A Star Wars story yesterday morning, but since the Memorial Day weekend weather forecasts look so crummy, and Saturday morning was the only time that was going to be nice out, we decided to do something outdoors instead. We ended up going to Portsmouth and being touristy. I took my camera. It was the first time I really used my Nikon since I started wearing glasses full time. I learned quite a bit about trying to use the view finder and not bashing myself in the face. Also, bifocals can make focusing the camera a little challenging sometimes. Hopefully these aren’t blurry messes.

…and for the record… we’re leaving to see Solo: A Star Wars Story in about 30 minutes. You didn’t think I was going to go through opening weekend without seeing it, did you? I can’t function if there is a Star Wars flick out in the wild that I haven’t seen, you all know that.

Phishing

For a minute there I thought I fell for a phishing attack. I got an email telling me to reset my Playstation account password that I never, ever use. I’ve gotten a bunch of these in the past so I clicked on it and entered a new password. The second I filed it I though… was that legit?

So I Googled Playstation network and went through the reset password steps directly. I got the email again and when I clicked on it I was sent to the same place as the first email. Okay. It was legit. I put in a different password than the one I used two minutes prior, and all is now (hopefully) right with the world.

Pay attention, folks. Don’t get tricked into giving away your information. Be more safety conscious than I was. There are a lot of shitty people out there. We have to stand up to them together. Solidarity, brothers and sisters in internet security!
