Musical Bummer

I just got some bummer news.  Well, it’s good news for the people involved, but bummer news for me.

As stated many months ago, the one bar that would book my band, Racks in Plaistow, was involved in a bit of a… fire.  The downstairs tenant, the fish market whose name escapes me, caught fire.  It did not spread to the second floor, but the smoke damage in the bar was bad enough that they had to shut down.

We still had a date booked with them at the time, and it was a few months out from the  incident.  Initially they thought they would be back open, but they had troubles with the clean up and they ended up canceling.  That show would have been last November, I think.

Earlier today I saw a post on Facebook from the owner.  It was attached to a page that I follow but had never seen before.  It was called Grumpy’s Bar and Grill, or something like that.  I did some digging.  Sure enough, Racks changed their name, remodeled their interior, and are getting close to re-opening…

…and where the stage used to be is now bathrooms.

Digging a little more, there is a comment on a post where someone asks if they will still have live music.  The response is that they don’t know yet.

If the stage is gone though, I’d say it’s a pretty good bet that any live music they go with will not include full bands.

It was fun while it lasted.

Missing Time

Last night my SleepWatch app said I was asleep for 6.5 hours (roughly).  My MyAir app said the CPAP machine was on for 5.5 hours (roughly).  I have no memory of taking the mask off for an hour (I usually don’t when this sort of thing happens) but unlike every other time I have no memory of putting it back on either.  I know I woke up at about 10 minutes to 1:00am to go to the bathroom.  I also filled the CPAP machine’s humidifier at that time.  I checked the onboard stats and it said the machine had run for a little more than two hours.  I had gone to bed a little more than two hours earlier.  That matched up.  So at some time between 1:00am and 5:00am I took off the mask, slept for an hour, and then put the mask back on.  Like I said, I have no memory of this at all.

Eastern Equine Encephalitis.  Heard of it?  Apparently a mosquito living in Methuen bit a horse and the horse tested positive for it.  I don’t know what it is beyond it being bad.  They are going to spray pesticides on a section of the city tonight.  I’m pretty sure my neighborhood is not included.  I really don’t want to have to start studying up on this particular disease.  The name is nasty sounding enough for me.  Let’s hope they eliminate the little mosquito bastards in one shot.

I haven’t played my guitar in about two weeks.  What the hell is wrong with me?

Last Night was Better

When I woke up this morning I checked my sleep data.  The SleepWatch app said I was asleep for 6.5 hours.  The MyAir app said the CPAP machine was on for seven hours.

I did it.  I slept through the night without removing my mask in my sleep.  I’ll take that as a win.  I’ve also had more than six hours of sleep for three nights in a row.  I hope I was able to store some of that up because it’s not something I’m going to be able to sustain.

Sleep.  It does a body good.  I think.  I really wouldn’t know.

Mask Troubles

For each of the last few nights I have taken my CPAP mask off in my sleep.  Last night I was snoring again and woke my wife up a couple of times.  I don’t remember taking the mask off.  I put it back on each time I woke up, but when I look at the numbers the sleep watch app has me sleeping for about an hour and a half longer than the machine was on.

Let’s work on figuring out a way to stop doing this, shall we?
