No Northern Lights for Us

The Northern Lights have been visible in my little piece of Massachusetts tonight! Did we see it?

No. Don’t be silly.

We did hop in the car and drive a couple of towns to the North and parked ourselves at a park with a big open field and very little ambient light. We waited, facing North, until it got too cold and then we got back in the car and just looked North. Then after half an hour or so we just drove home.

We tried, but we didn’t see anything. No Northern Lights for us.

Oh well.

Connectivity

I am having system connectivity issues at work today. Working from home is being a jerk. Who knew?

I’m pulling my hair out of my head a little. I can do 90% of my job fine, but that last 10% is frustrating as all hell.

Come on, system. Let’s get our virtual head out of our virtual ass, huh? How about it?

Too Early

What day is it? Who knows. It’s Thursday, right?

Is it too early to start thinking about plans for the weekend? It is the height of leaf peeping season here in New England. We thought about going up to the mountains for a look last weekend but we decided against it. If we go this weekend the traffic will be insane. I checked the weather for our area and Saturday looks great while Sunday looks rainy and crappy.

I don’t know. We’re trying to plan a visit to the kids but that won’t be for another couple of weeks. We have a couple of work days to get through before we figure anything out and maybe we will just hang out at home. I don’t know. After a bunch of day trips on our week off/staycation last month I just have the road trippin’ bug.

We will figure it all out soon enough. Stay tuned.

Internal Calendar Failures

Earlier this morning I was talking to my boss about something and I thought that today was Monday.

Monday? It’s Wednesday. What the hell, Robert?

Later this afternoon I was working through something with two of my staff members and I thought today was Friday.

Friday? It’s Wednesday. What the hell, Robert?

Why doesn’t my internal calendar work anymore.

Mystery Meat

Those tacos I made for dinner looked like regular tacos. They were not. They were special.

The taco meat inside the taco? You thought it was ground beef. No, it was not ground beef.

It was bison.

Oh yeah, you read that right. I just made bison tacos for dinner.

Why yes, I am a bad ass (culinarily speaking).

Sheets

I almost had to take some sick time off of work this afternoon. I wasn’t sick though.

Before work started this morning I threw in a load of laundry. Specifically, I washed our bed sheets. It took half the work day to get through it all because things got really busy for a while there. By 3:00 or so that load of laundry was done and I brought it upstairs and quickly made the bed.

The sheets had gone straight from the dryer onto the bed and they were so warm and happy and wonderful that I almost told Jen that we had to both take the afternoon off sick so that we could just get into bed and go to sleep in the warm and happy and wonderful newly cleaned sheets.

We didn’t though.

Total missed opportunity, if you ask me.

Maybe I’ll wash the sheets again tomorrow, what with it being Saturday and all.

Sounds like a plan.
