Sleep Data – Day 3

I promise you, dear readers (there were seven of you yesterday?  WOOHOO!) that I won’t be logging sleep data for long.  It’s just new and interesting to me to have actual numbers to explain why I am so exhausted all the time.  I’ll get over it soon enough.  I mean, I did sign up for this year’s 50/90 yesterday.  Oh the thrill!

The MyAir app is telling me I did well last night.  My score is over 90 again.  Yay!  The SleepWatch app, however, is telling me I didn’t do so well.  Three hours of restful sleep out of 5:15 total sleep time.  I woke up a little before 2:00am, then again at 3:00, and again at 4:00.  I stayed awake for maybe 20 minutes or so on that last one and then didn’t wake again until 5:30 or so.  The app said I was in a period of “disturbed sleep” from about 3:00-4:30.  I don’t think that’s true.  I woke up at 3:00ish, took off the mask for a few minutes, went to the bathroom, and then went back to sleep.  I thought the rest of that hour was okay.  I don’t know if I am wrong or my watch misread the situation.

There are two things I know for sure.  One, I didn’t snore.  At least I didn’t snore enough to wake my wife.  That is a huge success.  Two, I am completely exhausted this morning. That’s a serious fail.  I went to bed at 10:30 or so and was in bed for seven hours, but I just kept waking up.  Monday night it was the mask losing it’s seal that woke me up a few times.  That happened again, but more often I just woke up.  I’m going to chalk it up to not being used to having a mask suction stuck to my face while I sleep and I’m going to hope I get better at staying under.

Fingers crossed for better results tonight.

  1. Wow! Seven followers! Congrats!
Sleep data: I’m pretty sure the CPAP is going to take a lot of getting used to. I’m sure there’ll be ups and downs but in the long term the ups should outweigh the downs. Next time you see the sleep doctor(s), though, I’d mention about it coming loose every so often. It might be something common, but it might also be that the particular mask you’re using isn’t completely right for you. I know nothing about it, of course, just trying to brainstorm to try to offer a bit of support.
