Yes

I saw a post on rushisaband.com today that referenced an interview with Yes bassist Chris Squire. The topic was, if Yes is entered into the rock and roll hall of fame, who would give the speech. That’s all irrelevant. What grabbed my attention was when Squire commented that if the band is inducted, which members will be included.

How many people have been in the band?

NINETEEN!

NINETEEN!

If I get a vote, and I don’t and don’t want one, it would be the eight guys from the Union period. Anderson, Squire, Howe, Wakeman, Bruford, White, Kaye, and Rabin.

My Heroic Lovey

This is a photo of my wife, Jen. She’s a hero. She’s amazing.

She went grocery shopping this morning, with a blizzard in the forecast for tonight.

She said it was a madhouse. A madhouse. A madhouse.

She deserves the Congressional Medal of Honor for her Market Basket Bravery this morning.

I love her like crazy!

Friday the 13th

Is everyone ready for a rash of bad luck caused by an arbitrary numbering system that resulted in the 13th day of the month falling on a Friday?

I suppose it would feel more real if we got hit with a snow storm today instead of tomorrow, as is forecast.

All I know is that in less than nine hours I will be on my weekend. There is nothing unlucky about that!

Bruins vs Oilers

The Bruins are in Edmonton tonight. I’m home and can listen to the game on the radio (via the NHL app on my iPad). Unfortunately it’s just starting now and it’s 9:30. Urgh.

Question: the Bruins are in Edmonton and the temperature in Boston dropped into the low 20’s…

Coincidence?

Flashback: Winamp

Untitled

What was the first audio player you ever used on a computer?

For me, it was Winamp. That was my go-to software for ages, and only meeting iTunes on the Mac I used in school could knock it off of the mountain.

I recently read that Winamp is shutting it’s doors and closing up shop as of 12/20/13. I also learned that, despite the “win” in the product’s name, there is a Mac version that you can download for free. Well, far be it from me to say no to media player nostalgia, I installed it on my desktop. It works, but it crashed a number of times when trying to import my library. Once it finished there were many, many duplicate files for some reason. I’ll use it for a day or two and then go back to iTunes.

But wait, there’s more! It has been reported that Microsoft is in talks with AOL to buy what ever is left of Winamp. Isn’t that cute? Maybe it will live to see 2014 after all. I hope so, if for nothing more than media player nostalgia.

New York Flashback

The first time my wife and I went to New York was in September of 2007. As soon as we parked the car we found a tiny little Italian Restaurant that was out of this world. Last weekend we were trying to remember where it was and what it was called.

It was Ralph’s Ristorante Italiano and it was near 9th and 56th.

My obsession with vacation photography pays off at last!
