18 Years Ago Today

18 years ago today I got down on one knee and asked the love of my life if she would marry me.

Even after all this time, I am still shocked that she said yes. I mean, I knew she was going to say yes. We had talked about it quite a bit before the moment actually came. It’s just that I had lived 37 years being solidly convinced that I was never going to find anyone and I was going to be alone forever and then suddenly here I was popping the question and getting a “yes” in return. It was fucking amazing.

May 24 and 28, 2008 - Game Night and Memorial Day
Look at those two crazy kids

I don’t think we’re doing anything special to celebrate our 18th proposalversary. I’m planning on making hamburgers for dinner, which is always cool. I do tend to set off the smoke alarms when I cook burgers in the kitchen though. Cross your fingers for no issues.

Tomorrow evening we’re going to see a Star Wars movie because my childhood obsession still burns brightly and I cannot function in a world where a Star Wars movie is in the theaters and I have not seen it. Here’s to The Mandalorian and Grogu. I have remained utterly free of spoilers and reviews thus far. I just have to stay that way for about another 31 hours. Cross your fingers for no spoilers.

Yesterday I tried to use a post here to alter space and time so that my film photos would get developed, scanned, and uploaded to The Dark Room’s site. It didn’t really work. If it had the pics would have been available immediately. Instead, I got the notification overnight. It was after 1:00am, which means someone in California was putting in a late night. Your hard work is appreciated. I won’t be able to share anything until I get them downloaded, run through Apple Photos, then uploaded to Flickr. Suffice to say, my new camera works.

In closing, allow me to stand in front of the universe of the interwebs and once again declare my love for my bride, Jen. I would propose to her again in a heartbeat. I love her like crazy. Our actual wedding anniversary is a little more than a week away. Another chance to shout my love from the virtual rooftops.

Love you, sweetie.

2008

Do you remember what you were doing on this date in 2008?  12 years ago?

I do.

Like it was yesterday.

On this date in 2008, 12 years ago today, I popped the question.  I asked Jen to marry me and she said yes.

Words fail me when I try to describe how happy she makes me.  Paltry things, words.

Two Important Dates

This week has two important dates for our family. First, yesterday was my step daughter’s birthday! I was supposed to mention it here on the actual day, but many many meetings at work distracted me and I missed it. Sorry about that. But, you can still all wish her a happy belated birthday, am I right?

The second important day is today. Seven years ago today I popped the question to my beloved bride Jen. What a day that was. Unfortunately the ring I gave her seven years ago has been damaged. She thinks I’m mad at her because of that, but no. Not even a tiny bit. I’m disapointed that we seem to have bought a lemon that day at Hanoush jewelers in Salem, but otherwise I’m not upset at all. If we can’t fix the ring we will have to replace it. All I ask is that the diamond be re-used in some way. If we can get it onto a new ring then that’s excellent. If not, can we set it into something else? It’s just a symbol or course. The love that it represents will continue to be strong without the symbol. It’d just be nice to be able to keep it around.

So happy birthday to my step daughter, who still has some aging to do before I’ll mention her by name on this here bloggie, and happy proposalversary to the love of my life!

Busy Month

May is a really busy month for us.

The eighth is my birthday (blah).
The 19th is my step daughter’s birthday.
The 26th is Memorial Day.
The 30th is our wedding anniversary.

Like a said, it’s a busy month.

There’s one more important date that sort of flies under the radar. That day is May 20th. On that date in the year 2008 a certain red haired blogging nerd got down on one knee and asked the girl of his dreams to be his wife.

It still boggles my mind that she actually said yes.

I love my Jen more today than ever. I am nervous though that she might change her mind so I still ask her to marry me all the time. Fortunately for me she keeps saying yes.

May 20, 2008 - SHE SAID YES!

ADDENDUM: I am such a meat head. I forgot Mother’s Day! Fortunately I didn’t forget it when it counted. >whew<
