Yesterday we were all about my step daughter’s geography bee. Today it’s all about both kids and their karate tournament. We have a brown belt and a black belt to root for.

Geo-Bee Wrap Up
Well, my step daughter didn’t win today. She did not make it to the final round. She was asked eight questions and she got three of them right. Not good enough to pass the preliminaries, but plenty good enough to prove how totally awesome she is.
While she was out of the auditorium competing, they played a video of last year’s national finals. Of all the questions asked to each of the 10 finalists I got exactly one correct. These questions are hard.
One item of note. Among the 10 national finalists from last year, one was a seventh grade girl from New Hampshire. This year that girl is, obviously, an eighth grader. We believe she was in my step daughter’s preliminary group. I’m not making excuses, but I am looking toward the future. She got there this year as a sixth grader. She’s got two more cracks at this. I hope she sticks with it.
Between now and then though, Ms Black Belt and young Mr Brown Belt are in a karate tournament tomorrow. Butts will be kicked.
I am so proud I can’t even describe it.
