I’m due for a cell phone upgrade. When I get a new phone my step son will inherit my current phone.

Which new iPhone should I get? I can easily use my iPhone 5 with one hand. Can I use the iPhone 6 plus with one hand? If I pre-order it without at least holding one in my hands first will I be disappointed?
