iCloud Drive

I just made my first practical use of iCloud Drive.

For most of the past year I have been recording new music using GarageBand for iPad. I’m not sure why, exactly. I think it’s because it’s portable. I don’t have to carry a lot of stuff around with me. Just the iPad, the adapter I use, and either a guitar or a microphone. Mixing demos on the iPad kinda sucks though. GarageBand on iOS is pretty limited in that respect, so I port the files over to my Mac and mix them in the full OS X GarageBand.

Prior to today I would export the iOS file to iTunes and pull it to my desktop, then open it in the full GarageBand. The two programs are not interchangeable though so I would save a copy as an OS X file and mix that.

With the latest updates though, I can now upload the iOS files to iCloud, and then import them directly from there to the OS X GarageBand. I still have to save a new copy, but I can eliminate the iTunes middle man, and get the whole thing done without having to plug the iPad into the Mac.

I just did it with NaSoAlMo song #1 which I finished recording today, and will mix tonight… if I can stay awake.

Another Song

Just a few minutes after I told myself I was done with bluesy songs this month I came up with this thing. It’s like I don’t even pay attention to my own ideas. What a jerk.

Just a note, alonetone seems to be lagging like crazy tonight. I’m not sure if this one is going to be playable. Good luck. You’re gonna need it.

50 Songs Down, None to Go Because I’m finished

It’s done! That’s 50 songs in 82 days! I am a 50/90 winner!

I honestly didn’t think I could do this one. Of course, out of the 50 songs I think zero are any good, but who cares! I finished on time!

49 Songs Down, One to Go

Another song in 7/8 time. There was one day when I just decided I was going to put together a ton of stuff and it would all be in 7/8. I ended up with three songs. This is the second one. The third one was the dump I posted earlier today. The first one was pretty good. The second one (this one) was okay. The third one sucked. That’s how it usually goes for me.

47 Songs Down, Three to Go

It’s almost 2:00am. I went to a wedding tonight and when I got home I couldn’t sleep so I finished this mix. I don’t know if it’s any good. I’m too tired to be able to tell.

46 Songs Down, Four to Go

The triumphant return (not really, this song is a turd) of Florida Man. This is a story about a guy who called 9-1-1 to ask for a ride to the store. Awesome.

The music is kinda weak. It’s not bad, but it’s not A-list either.

45 Songs Down, Five to Go

This isn’t the 50th song finished, it’s 45th, but it did start out as idea #50. I thought somehow that a goofy swing thing with sappy lyrics was fitting. Do you agree?
