Song #4

Four songs done. Six to go. (10 if I haven’t given up on FAWM, which I might have done)

I made it all the way to the fourth song before writing a lyric about worrying whether I could finish RPM on time or not. It’s like an annual thing now.

Two Songs Down

I mixed my second RPM song tonight. I liked it a lot more before I realized that the guitar part was stolen from Tanya Donelly’s song “The River” from the absolutely Earth shatteringly brilliant Throwing Muses album House Tornado. I feel like a tool now.

One Song Down

The RPM Challenge has kicked into gear and I have one song complete. Not sure how I feel about this one as the guitar sounds fishy in the chorus and I’m frankly too tired to know if the mix is any good or not. This might get some additional work.

Another Song

Here is the Prime Meridian Mega Closer. We called it that because it used to have a great big noisy rock out ending that was just a blast. I always liked this one a lot even though there wasn’t much too it. I had to dumb a lot of it down in order to pull it off in GarageBand, but it’s still fun to play even after all these years.

Impossible

This song is from my days at Northeast Broadcasting School (as an employee, not a student) and it wasn’t until the other day that I came to the conclusion that it would be physically impossible to play this song live.

Another New Old Song

Here’s another song written with Mike and Maria. I think this one dates back to 1998. If we ever made an album for reals, I would have expected this would be the hit single.

Old Music

Say hello to the first demo of 2015!  RPM starts in just under 13 days so it’s time to start blitzing you all with new demos of old songs.  This is a Prime Meridian song.  One of the last we wrote.  It comes from 1999 (or so) and was more or less forgotten about.

It’s kinda groovy, isn’t it?

NaSoAlMo – Thanksgiving Day Music

I had 10 songs in progress. Now that I have no more opportunities to record vocals between now and the end of the month I had to drop one of the songs. I felt kinda bad about it. Losing one of the songs ruins a gimmick I was working with. Each song on the NaSoAlMo project will be 10 beats per minute faster than the song before it. So if song #7 is dropped the gimmick doesn’t work, get it?

Since today is Thanksgiving and we did not cook, I decided to take a few minutes and put together an instrumental to take the place of the vocal-less song. It is pretty lame, but it works. This was written, recorded, and mixed all today.

NaSoAlMo – New Song

This is song #9, but it is the seventh song finished this month. There should be at least one, more likely two additional songs before December 1st.
