I feel bad. Boston observed a moment of silence today at 2:50 in honor of all of the victims of the Marathon bombing and their families. At 2:50 we were parking the car in front of a restaurant and we missed it. When we got to our table it was 2:53. I wanted us to be a part of the moment even though were are like 500 miles away. I feel like I let our city down.

They Got Him
They got him. It’s been a long day, but they arrested him.
I’m already starting to see jokes about how if you want to escape in a boat it should be in the water, not in watertown. Har Har. I wish I’d thought of that. I could print t-shirts. Oh well.
I know he will be tried and convicted and put to death under Federal law. I know. I don’t like it though. We’ve seen three innocent people die, one hero of an MIT police officer die in the line of duty, and one scum bag schmuck of a murdering putz die of criminal stupidity. That’s enough. I don’t want anyone else to die. I want him to spend 60 years in prison having what he did pounded into him by his “neighbors”. Death isn’t punishment for someone like this. Killing him lets him off the hook.
My sincere thanks to all of the law enforcement people who worked so hard on this. Hopefully there are no other accomplices Hopefully they can all kick off their shoes and put up their feet and take a load off.
Good work, people. Thank you.
Do They Have Him
The news is reporting that the police have surrounded our prick of a fugitive. Looks like he was hiding in a boat in someone’s back yard. Shots have been fired.
Please take him alive. We’ve had too much death.
Manhunt
As usual, all of the news is scattered, and probably inaccurate. One of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects is dead. The other is on the run. They have killed one cop and injured another. They were throwing explosives at the pursuing officers.
Some reports say that the dead suspect, a 20 year old Russian immigrant who was here legally, may have killed himself or he may have been shot or he may have had a suicide vest and tried to blow himself up or he may have had a bomb on him as a booby trap.
The two suspects are apparently brothers. They may have been from Chechnya. They have been living in Cambridge for a while. Friends and acquaintances are starting to come forward and they are saying these guys were happy, social, normal, popular, American, kids.
Last night I was hoping strongly that the two suspects in the FBI videos were the actual bombers because I did not want innocent people targeted. Now, from what we’re being told, there isn’t any doubt that they did it. Why?
As we speak there is a standoff brewing on Willow Street in Watertown. Armored trucks, cops on megaphones, helicopters. They might have the guy cornered. I sincerely hope they take him alive. Partly because I want answers, but also because there has been enough death.
If you live in Watertown or in any town nearby, just stay home and keep out of the way. Stay safe.
What the Hell?
I thought the situation was a confused mess before.
A store robbery, a dead MIT cop, a car jacking, a shot transit cop, a shootout in Watertown, a locked down neighborhood, a dead suspect, explosive devices thrown at cops.
All while we slept snug in our beds about 30 miles to the North.
Lets hope the police can get the other guy before he hurts anyone else.
Are These the Cuplrits
I sincerely hope that these two douchebags are the ass clowns who did it, because if we’re all pointing our fingers at innocent men I am going to be supremely pissed off.
Damn It
I thought having two sources stating an arrest was made would be enough. I thought my butt was covered.
Wrong.
US Attorney’s office: There is no marathon bombing suspect in custody and no arrest

Instant Information
We live in an age of instant information. We know everything going on as soon as it happens. Of course, sometimes the information we get is totally wrong. That’s why I am hesitant to post that an arrest has been made in the Boston Marathon bombing case.
Law enforcement sources: Arrest made in the Boston bombings investigation. on.cnn.com/15fOGEd

BREAKING: Law enforcement official: Arrest imminent in Boston Marathon bombing, suspect to be brought to court.

Let’s hope this is accurate news, and lets also hope that they have the right person.
Up Late, Looking at the Bright Side
It’s quarter past 11. I should have been asleep an hour ago but a combination of dinner disagreeing with me and various iTunes TV season passes have conspired to keep me awake. This post is pretty much guaranteed to be a rambler.
Think back to September 11, 2001. What is the lasting image that sticks with you? Your first thought is probably something awful. The planes, the collapses, those poor souls who jumped. Those images are sort of burned into our national identity in a way. Much the way that I’ve always assumed the Kennedy assassination, or Pearl Harbor were. Yesterday’s Boston Marathon bombing is never going to approach those events, but it is still going to leave a mark on us.
Dig a little deeper into your memories though. After you get passed the shock, what comes to mind? For me it’s the images of people running toward the danger. It’s the average everyday schmuck going against his douchy nature and helping his fellow man through the shit. When I think of all of those emergency personnel running into those buildings, and all of the people helping each other to get out to safety, and all of those people from all walks of life throwing caution to the wind and helping out, that’s when my anger abates. That’s when I stop being afraid. That’s when I know without question that we as a people are better than this. For every asshole who sets off a bomb in a crowd there are probably half a billion who unite against such actions.
We saw those people in Boston yesterday. We saw them running toward the explosions. We saw them carrying the wounded from the scene. We saw the best of us. We saw it in my town and I am so filled with pride.
We have had a little time to absorb it all now. It has sunk in once again that this is the world we live in. We are a free and open society and there will always be a risk that some slime is going to take advantage of the situation and abuse it. But after seeing the worst of us for a few seconds, and the best of us for a little more than a day I start wanting answers. Of course at this point there are no answers so I start to hope for certain kinds of answers.
I sincerely hope that the FBI catches the culprits and they don’t turn out to be religious extremists. I am so friggin sick of people in this country assuming that all the world’s evil stems from Islam. There is just as much evil hiding behind Christianity. If you don’t believe me, look up the westboro baptist church. There is just as much evil hiding behind bullshit political idiocy. If you don’t believe me, look up The Oklahoma City bombing.
I wanted to be told by the Feds that the guilty party was one asshole who was mad because his mommy didn’t love him enough, or because the other kids always picked him last when they played kickball at recess. In other words, some batshit crazy asshole. I don’t think that’s going to be the case though. Logically, if the reports are correct and the bombs were made out of six liter pressure cookers and were carried in nylon backpacks, then the chances of one person planting both bombs seems non existent. I don’t see that particular wish coming true.
It’s now quarter to midnight and my eyelids are finally getting heavy. It’s time for bed now. Before I go, let me just say again that we saw the best of us yesterday. We saw true heroism. We saw people uniting to help their fellow man. It proves that attacks like this will never defeat us. We are better than those who wish to harm us senselessly. Boston, I’m wicked proud of you.
The First Explosion
