Sunday may have Officially been Mission of Burma day in Boston, but today is the actual release date for their new record, “The Sound the Speed the Light.”

It is their third full length studio record since reuniting (their fourth over all). The last one, “The Obliterati” will go down as one of my favorite albums of the 21st century. No doubt at all. The jury is still out on the new record, but I am liking it so far. I’m on the sixth track out of 12 and so far “Possession” is looking like the killer from this set.

So everyone, go out today and celebrate the release of “The Sound the Speed the Light.” Make today Mission of Burma day everywhere!

(okay, so here is the downside of following bands that live in the same town you live in. There was one song I heard them do a few times that I was really hoping would find it’s way onto this album. I believe it was called “Monkey Boy.” It’s not here. My fingers are crossed for it to show up as a b-side at some point.)

I know I looked into this last season but either the option wasn’t there or I was too much of a dolt to find it.

NHL.com offers a video recap of each game that includes all of the goals scored as well as other noteworthy plays (although they seem to skip fights). I tried embedding them at one point last year and couldn’t get it to work. Now today I was looking at Saturday night’s Bruins game and low and behold there is the embed code right there looking at me.

So our trip to the mountains was postponed due to weather. Or the threat of weather. It was a little on the crummy side at home and we had seen some unhappy looking forecasts for the mountains region so we thought we’d try another time. Next weekend is a three day weekend, and we’ll have the kids too. Maybe that’s the time we’ll shoot for. Any later than that and we run the risk of missing the colors.

So what to do instead? On Saturday we had my niece’s first birthday party so we planned around that. On Sunday we had nothing. I suggested we stay home and cook a nice dinner and relax and spend some quiet time interrupted occasionally by me flipping the laundry. (Sunday is becoming the official laundry day.)

Jen suggested beef stew. Something that takes all day to cook that we can both work on together. Beef stew turned into beef stew and bread, which turned into beef stew and bread and a cake, which turned into beef stew and bread and a cake and Tewksbury Tweets.

We spent the day together being wonderfully domestic. Cooking a big, involved dinner/dessert combo and watching hulu.com and cbs.com content streamed through our Playstation 3 and just enjoying being together. It turned into a very lovely day for the two of us on the day before our 30th Monthiversary. All of that following the birthday party fun on Saturday combined for a really great weekend.

Now we’ll have to see if next weekend can top it. If only we could get next weekend here a little faster… like right now.

Today is officially Mission of Burma day in Boston. They are playing a free show that we won’t be going to, but I’ll be there in spirit.

I was listening to the new iTunes Genius Mix thingie a little while ago and it threw on two Mission of Burma songs in a row. Consider the day celebrated.

We just got back from a wonderful birthday party for a wonderful one year old. She and her one year and three month old cousin are walking like pros. My nephew was feeling very sick today so his dad drove him to his nana and papa’s house so he could ride out the illness. I love that little guy so much it kills me to see him sick.

The birthday girl was full of smiles and walking all over the house. Nothing could slow her down. Not even the inevitable trips and falls. We had to leave early to get the kids back to their father’s so they could go to the movies. We did get to see the birthday cake, but there was no smooshing. I have a very lady like niece.

Now we are going to hunker down in the living room and watch television via hulu.com streaming from Jen’s media server on her desktop computer through our Playstation 3. Did I mention how awesome she was?
