Curious

Okay, now I remember what I was going to write about…

So Jen used to be married to Mike. They had two kids and then they divorced. Nine days short of one year ago Jen and I got married and I became a husband and a step father. If you’ve been reading this ridiculous drivel over the last year and a half you’ve probably gleaned that info by now.

This weekend Mike is getting married to Yvonne. That will make Yvonne the kid’s step mother. That makes sense, right?

Does that make me and Yvonne step-parents-in-law?

Just curious.

Moving On

I’ve been hurt, you know. It’s so hard to move on from a hurt like the one I suffered. When you are in pain like that you start to wonder if you’ll ever be able to fully invest yourself again. Is it worth the pain? Is it worth risking the hurt all over again?

I don’t know if I’m ready to move on again… but I do know I watched the Red Sox game last night. The hurt from the Bruins’ monumental, horrible, embarrassing, colossal collapse is still very fresh. I don’t know if I am quite ready to give my loyalty to another team yet. What if the Red Sox make the playoffs this year (not likely given how things have gone thus far) and then take a three games to none lead… and then lose the series. What if it all happens again?

I can’t honestly say I am ready to take that risk again, but I am willing to start moving on from the hurt.

Go Red Sox.

Creeping Along

Well vacation is a few days closer than the last time I lamented the slow speed of the clock, but it’s still not here. Still feels like a long way to go.

At least I can celebrate our engagement, two years ago today, as much as I want to.
May 20, 2008 - SHE SAID YES!

I am having a hard time accepting that it’s been two whole years. It seems like yesterday. Hell, it’s been 355 days since the wedding. We’re 10 days shy of our first wedding anniversary. The time has absolutely flown. It’s crazy. Our first date was well over three years ago. We’d been talking a lot on-line prior to that. Despite what the calendar tells me, I still feel seriously giddy about this whole relationship thing. It’s evolved from girlfriend to fiance to wife but I am still feeling that same initial excitement that I felt when we first started dating. They say that things are supposed to calm down after a while. If it has for us then I can’t really see it. Maybe I’m too close to the situation, but I really think that my feelings for Jen have grown steadily stronger since we first met.

I love her. I love her more today than I did yesterday. That’s a cliche and all, but that’s exactly how I feel.

Java is Pissing Me Off

I finally got the pictures from Sunday onto Flickr (family only, sorry). I tried uploading them to facebook too (friends only, sorry) but that effing Java uploader has crapped out on me on multiple tries. The last try was my favorite. Instead of just crashing, or dying, it got all the way to the end and popped up an Upload Failed message. I wanted to kick it’s ass right there and then.

If Facebook’s Java uploader had a literal ass I most certainly would have kicked it.

Traffic Excitement

Jen left for work first this morning (no car pool today). She called me up shortly after I left the house and gave me a traffic update. There was an accident on route 93 just South of 495. I was prepared to get stuck for a few minutes while trying to take that exit.

However, just after I hung up with her I was passed by a police car who pulled over right in front of me. I took this.

Note the car off the road.

It was drizzling… sort of… so that explains the 2135% increase in accidents this morning. That was sarcasm, in case you couldn’t tell.

Please allow me to change the subject…

Last night we went to the gym. Jen suggested I forgo the usual treadmill torture and try the circuit. 10 machines, one minute per. In between each machine is a minute on a stair, step, thingie, I don’t know what it’s called. 20 minutes total.

Ouch.

I survived, but I am a little sore still today. I think I might start doing that more often than the treadmill/elliptical/bike routine as it pummeled more than just my legs. We’ll see.

Please allow me to change the subject again…

Today is my step-daughter’s birthday. Happy Birthday!!!
